Description

On March 27, 2022, sixty two people were murdered in El Salvador in gang related killings. In response, President Nayib Bukele declared a state of emergency and has arrested over 22,000 suspected gang members (in a country of just 6.5 million people). While President Bukele now has more power than is comfortable and he has arrested many non-gang members along the way, still 91% of Salvadorans support his regime.Today Gabi Rivera, a Salvadoran comedian based in San Salvador, joins us to talk through the pros and cons of having Nayib Bukele in charge. Check out Gabi at http://gabirivera.com/.Lost In America is hosted by us AKA Turner Sparks and Michael Ira Kaplan. This episode is also brought to you by all 47 of our Patreon subscribers.
