Opposition party leader Svetlana Tikhanovskaya is living in exile in Lithuania after having her husband jailed and her life threatened. The EU is supporting her while Russia begrudgingly supports Lukashenko. Major protests have been happening every Sunday since August yet no clear path forward has emerged.
