Labeling films as "true cinema" or not sets unnecessary limitations. A work of art is a work of art periodtttt-- some are just more basic than others and that's fine. Just because Marvel movies don't go into social commentary and challenge norms (which I would argue against anyway) and whatever other criticism he has doesn't mean it's bad or unworthy of being labeled cinema. Marvel movies serve a completely different purpose, and caters to completely different people/ sides of people, than Scorsese films. One of those purposes is bringing a contrast and balance to the world of cinema. Not every film can be a heavy, thought provoking, emotionally exhausting piece/ a film making feat. Some have to be fluffy so that people can prepare their brains/hearts/voids for the next thing. Also, wouldn't fluffy stuff and Marvel movies just strengthen that of his own? I think that the hyperbole of Marvel movies, the "roller coaster experience" as it were, creates a nice contrast to Scorsese films; the existence of Captain America for example makes things like The Wolf Of Wall Street that much more compelling. But anyway... truth or dare? Truth: What's your favourite film soundtrack (if it's not Disney's Tarzan feat. Phil Collins then you're wrong, sorry) Dare: say Scorsese 5x fastNEWS [00:16:54]Will Smith Developing Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Spinoff Series - Tatiana Siegel / THRWill Ferrell, Ryan Reynolds' 'A Christmas Carol' Musical Lands at Apple - Borys Kit / THR‘Band of Brothers’ and ‘The Pacific’ Follow-Up ‘Masters of the Air’ Coming to Apple TV+ - Adam Chitwood / Collider‘Ballerina’ Will Determine If Lionsgate’s ‘John Wick’ Franchise Has Any Value Without Keanu ReevesThe Academy Is Finally Replacing DVD Screeners With Streaming Service - MetaflixBOX OFFICE [00:46:33]Box Office: 'Joker' Eyes Huge $60M 2nd Weekend; 'Addams Family' Beating 'Gemini Man' - Pamela McClintock / THRNEW TRAILERS [01:00:09]DolittleKlausJungle CruiseOnwardTruth Be Told - Apple TV+OUT THIS WEEK [01:10:09]The LighthouseMaleficent: Mistress of EvilZombieland: Double TapJojo RabbitWHAT WE'RE WATCHING [01:11:50]Anthony: The Righteous Gemstones, Succession, El CaminoDaniel: Peaky Blinders, Dirty Money, El Camino, Psycho, LOTR AppendicesShahbaz: JokerFOLLOW US:Follow Daniel on Twitter, Instagram, and LetterboxdFollow Shahbaz on Twitter, Instagram, and LetterboxdFollow Anthony on Twitter, Instagram, and LetterboxdFollow The Movie Podcast on Twitter, Instagram, Discord, and YouTube
