We opened up the show today by talking about the news from the Detroit Lions Organization regarding the hire of new General Manager, Brad Holmes. Huge talked about Holmes’ prior experience and much more as we think this is a great hire. We asked the audience how they like they hire and also who they ultimately want as Head Coach. We then moved on to talk some hockey as the Red Wings are set to play tonight after a 310 day hiatus. We were joined by Mike Knuble to discuss what he likes about this team, what recent moves he’s liked from Yzerman, and much more. Huge and Mike also talked about the AHL/Griffins, and even some youth hockey.
In our second hour we continued the conversation regarding the new hire of Brad Holmes as GM. We were joined by Mike O’Hara to get his thoughts on the hire and to go further in depth into Holmes’ resume and to also look ahead to where we see him taking this organization. We then jumped back to talk some more Red Wings hockey as we were joined by Paul Woods. Paul and Huge talked about how they think this team should fare throughout the season. To wrap up the hour, we were joined by Mark Uyl, the Executive Director the MHSAA. Mark joined us to give an update on the Winter sports schedule as he and his team met earlier today to get things set in stone.
In our final hour, we kept the conversation rolling regarding the start of the NHL season tonight. We started the hour with Ken Kal to get his initial thoughts on the team; some of the recent things Stevie Y. has been doing for the organization and to also look closer at the Red Wings as they’re set to take the ice tonight. We wrapped up the show with our friend Phillip Adler from Spectrum Health. Phillip is the Head Athletic Trainer at Spectrum, and we wanted to have him on to get an update on the effects of Covid-19 and the world of sports.
