Description

A long discussion on R. Nachman's position from the previous daf regarding how one demonstrates intent to tithe. Including timing. And the manner the fruit is used (dried vs. fresh). Which converges on "demai." And when we say food is ready to be eaten, before which point, the requirement for terumot and maaserot doesn't kick in. Also, a new chapter: one who dries fruit on the roof and then lowers it into the home through a skylight (for those for whom that was the particular architecture), that is acceptable on yom tov, but not on Shabbat. Likewise, you can cover produce, or jugs of wine or oil, to protect it from a leak, and went to protect against dirtying the home from the leak. Note that the Gemara delves into what verb should really be used as the first word in this mishnah. Plus, halakhot on the skylights, on how much produce can be lowered through the skylight. To answer, the parallel is drawn to a case of sacks of grain and guests from Masekhet Shabbat....and then debated.
