Sophie Ward is an actor and novelist. As an actor she played Dr. Helen Trent in 40 episodes of Heartbeat, she was Lady Ellen Hoxley in Land Girls, Sophia Byrne in Holby City, A Dark-Adapted Eye with Helena Bonham Carter and the fantasy Dinotopia. She was in the films Young Sherlock Holmes, Return to Oz and Jane Eyre with Michael Fassbender and Judi Dench. Her debut novel, Love and Other Thought Experiments, was long listed for the 2020 Booker Prize.
