That vast majority of dog breeders do not breed responsibly, ethically, or even in accordance with minimum standards of rearing or even state law. Their unethical and even inhumane actions lead to health conditions that comprise a large percentage veterinary sick visits and emotional and financial stress to families that purchase their puppies.  In this episode, Dr. Roger discusses red flag behaviors that clearly identify an unethical breeder, and resources to help prospective dog owners seek out reputable, ethical breeders.  Good breeders may be rare but they do exist if one knows where to look and the right quesitons to ask.
