To some people, studying the past is the best way to help young people function well in the modern world.  To what extent do you agree or disagree? What other measures could be effective in helping young people to function well in the modern world?

Now, there are so many ways you can develop an argument from this (depending on what side you choose), but your goal is to do some free-writing for 10-15 minutes on the topic.  It's far better getting your ideas on paper rather than just having them in your head.
