Description

This time, the guys get the chance to talk with Steve Hagara, founder of Streetbeefs Scrapyard. Streetbeefs Scrapyard is the Pacific Northwest backyard fight organization located in Gig Harbor. It’s a branch of the largest backyard fight group in the USA, Streetbeefs, created in 2008. Steve brought Streetbeefs concept “Guns Down, Gloves up!” to the PNW this year, hosting their latest match last month.

They talk about games GCP listeners can play, they wish Jeff a Happy 50th, and Steve shares how he got started with Streetbeefs. He talks about building the ring in his backyard, scheduling the fights, and joining ventures with Streetbeefs.
16:09 – Steve talks about the “Guns Down, Gloves Up” concept behind Streetbeefs, they talk about how respectful the fighters are, and Brogan talks about the different skill levels in the ring. Steve discusses his competition in the MMA, Justin and Brogan talk about being involved in Tae Kwon Do, and Steve shares why he does not want to turn it into an MMA type environment. He talks about the upcoming event, the number of fights at his recent events, and his want to get it to the same level as the Streetbeefs happening in California.
30:27 – Steve shares how the GCP guys can get Scrapyard t-shirts, talks about the production setup for the events, and the interviews he’s been including at the end of the fights. Jeff comments on his like of the rawness of the fights, Steve shares the open invite he has out to anyone who wears a Sasquatch outfit, and Brogan talks about how excited he was to go back home when they went to the fight. The Grit City Podcast is a weekly podcast, hosted from Tacoma, WA. - Affectionately called "Grit City" by people who know and love it. Every Monday we release an episode highlighting business owners, entrepreneurs, authors, artists, and unique characters we know or happen to run into. Most often these are people that we feel personify the blue collar, hard work ethic people associate with “Grit”. Sometimes it's a drug-fueled weirdo that we just met, drunk at a comedy club the night before. No matter what or who we are recording we want you to feel like you're hanging out with friends and taking part in a community of unique and interesting people. The Grit City Podcast was launched during the summer of 2014 and had over 120 episodes between 2014 and 2017.
