Hard-boiled action mystery and thrilling adventure as the Lion’s Eye informs Jeff Regan that he has been hired by Alice Lafarge. She gives him instructions to be at the Gladstone Hotel where he meets her father Bill Lafarge. Bill Lafarge wants Regan to spend the weekend with him as a witness, just in case someone needs him to testify how he spent the weekend. Just as they settle in to a game of cards shots come flying in from the alley and Alice Lafarge is killed.
