In a 10-3 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays last night, the need for pitching on this team came front and center. The St. Louis Cardinals are having a bad July, and a large part of that is the inability to get outs from the rotation. Last night, Andre Pallante was not super effective and he was followed by less-than-spectacular performances from Jordan Hicks and Junior Fernandez. Everyone is talking about Juan Soto, and rightfully so, but there is no denying that this team needs pitching in a bad way.
JD and Lucas take a deep dive into the starting pitching market and look at who's realistically available for St. Louis. Lucas likes the intangibles of a Madison Bumgarner acquisition while JD really wants Pablo Lopez in a Cardinal uniform. With the way the market is shaping up, it's clear that the Cardinals are going to have to make multiple trades for arms to have what is considered a successful deadline.
