Description

One very large conundrum is encouraging originality when teaching art. You want your students to come up with their own ideas and create their own style, but in the beginning, they don't have the skills to do so, nor have they likely figured out their own style.  As an online art teacher, I struggle with this paradox a lot. I give my students the skills they need, but I don't want them to copy me. This is a crutch for them that can be a problem in the long run. Although, I understand that in the beginning, copying a little to get a feel for their art so they can discover and learn their own style is normal. But it's a difficult balancing act. Today, I've invited artist Flora Bowley on to The Inspiration Place Podcast to discuss this! We talk about how we feel when our students copy us and how to balance teaching the necessary skills to our students while still encouraging originality. We also share how Flora is selling and promoting her original art so you can get some good tips for how to do so with your original art. In this podcast, you will discover... How do you feel about your art students copying you? How to balance teaching skills and encouraging originality. How Flora is currently selling and promoting her original art, and some tips and strategies for you. Mentoring for guiding your career.
