Description

Spider-Man: Far From Home is swinging into theaters today, so it’s a perfect time to release our review of the last Spider-Man film which came out...six months ago. Huh, hasn’t been long has it? Well, with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse making the jump from the big screen to home video and Netflix, there’s no better occasion to talk about this year’s Academy Award winner for Best Animated Picture! Once again our comics-loving friend Vix joins us to give a detailed overview of the comics history of all the characters in the Spider-Verse, exploring how the film borrows from the Ultimate universe, the Evangelion-ish origins of Peni Parker, why Spider-Ham is a rip-off of DC’s Captain Carrot, and tons more fascinating insights into all the comics history that the film brought to life!

But wait, want more podcasts that go in-depth into the comics history of characters and storylines adapted for the big screen? Well, you’re in luck! We’ve just released our Captain Marvel review, which is available EXCLUSIVELY on our Patreon! Join our $5 tier to gain access to our nearly three-hour retrospective, where we breakdown Carol Danvers’ character history and review whether the film adapted her origin and the spirit of character faithfully. But there’s more! Becoming a $5 patron will also give you access to our previous bonus pods, including our Manga Fight on Monster Girls and our review of That Time I Got Reincarnated as Yamcha! That’s multiple hours of awesome Manga Mavericks podcasts that you can ONLY listen to by becoming a Patron!

Lastly, we’ll be at AX this year! You can be sure to expect a detailed podcast of all of our adventures at the con, and maybe even a few @ Movies pods on the screenings we see as well. If you’ll be at the show and spot me or VLord, be sure to say hi!
