Aaron Sorkin is one of our most celebrated and influential playwrights and screenwriters whose plays, films and television work include A Few Good Men, The American President, The West Wing, Sports Night, The Newsroom, The Social Network, Moneyball, and Steve Jobs. Before the pandemic, his stage adaptation of To Kill A Mockingbird, starring Jeff Daniels as Atticus Finch, had turned into one of the the great Broadway shows of all time.

His latest film, which he wrote and directed, is The Trial of the Chicago 7. It has been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture, along with Sorkin’s fourth Best Screenwriter Oscar for the script. It is a powerful, timely, and entertaining film and it features an all-star cast.

Sorkin joins Michael Moore for a wide-ranging discussion including how the West Wing was almost not made, great career advice he received from The Social Network director David Fincher, plus advice he now gives to aspiring screenwriters. Also, his thoughts on patriotism, the lack of civics in American schools, and how Donald Trump got The Trial of the Chicago 7 made. They also discuss whether To Kill A Mockingbird will return after the pandemic and Sorkin issues a public challenge to fellow playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda.
