    It is confirmed by Lord Krishna that unless one is situated on the transcendental platform of Krishna consciousness, he cannot get free from the influence of the modes of material nature . 

    Arjuna asks a wonderful question from lord Krishna that baffles almost every person. You know what you ought to do but there appears to be something in you that forces you to do precisely what you do not want to do. As a result you suffer. Arjuna wants to know the cause so he can deal with it. Shri Krishna identifies this lust, or desire for the worldly enjoyment as the root of all evil.
