Description
The Rabbi spoke of the Iran Nuclear Deal as a very bad thing: many Jews cannot discuss this topic without hating Jews who differ with them on this contentious issue. The Pope also dealt with the politics of division and hatred in which, for example, differences of opinion on global warming and climate change leads to demonization, dehumanization and personal invective. Both spoke with humor, intelligence, and without any hint of anger, preachiness or attempts to provoke guilt. In effect, these two religious leaders created a meta-analysis of difficult topics allowing their listeners not to understand these topic but to understand how they understood these issues. The reaction to the Pope's very public speech produced relief and joy in most listeners who are weary of the rancid, life strangling personal attacks they have become used to.
