In 1934, Wee Willie McLean represented the United States at the 1934 World Cup. Then, just a few years later, he vanished. Pablo Maurer and Matt Pentz spent two years gathering as many details as they could about Willie’s life to find out what happened to him. They wrote a story about it and it’s absolutely epic, and altogether human. 

The story is linked in the show’s description, so please do give it a read. But today, I want to share a clip from a talk Pablo and Matt did with the Society for American Soccer HIstory, where they discussed the origins of the story, and one of the big breakthroughs in their reporting.
