Description
We are at a watershed in our history. Some days it feels like justice and accountability are gaining ground and the outcome of this turning point may be a good one. On other days, the threats to our democracy grow and the very real possibility of a turn to authoritarianism in the US looms. There are echoes of this moment throughout our history. We turn to Boston College history professor and noted commentator Heather Cox Richardson to discuss recent developments and long-term historical perspectives. Ryan Goodman of NYU Law School and Just Security and Dr. Kavita Patel of the Brookings Institution and formerly of the Obama White House lead the questioning and offer key comments of their own. Don't miss it.

So Much for Conventional Wisdom, America Actually Seems to Care About Foreign Policy:
It has long been a foundational belief of political smarties everywhere that the average American does not give a hoot about foreign policy. But that, according to a new study from the Center for American Progress, is just not true. Maybe 20 percent don't give a hoot. And about 30 percent are nutty nationalists. But 50 percent are more in the internationalist vein which could have big implications for the 2020 elections. We discuss with CAP's Brian Katulis, Georgetown Law's Rosa Brooks and the German Marshall Fund's Evelyn Farkas. (And while we're at it, we throw in a little Iran, Israel, North Korea and Venezuela for good measure. Tune in!)

Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/deepstateradio.

See <a style='colo by Deep State Radio
