Description

Kristinia DeBarge steps Behind The Rope. Checking in from her home in Vegas, Kristinia is here to tell it all. Growing up with a famous father, James DeBarge of the group DeBarge, is her Dad, Kristinia is no stranger to the limelight. We discuss what it was like to grow up with a Dad in the business whose mega hit “Rhythm of The Night” is still played everywhere today. Her Dad was also married to Janet Jackson in the 80’s, yes Janet Jackson. Please discuss. She does. Being around music from a young age, it is no surprise Kristinia decided to pursue music as a career. Part of that pursuit included being a contestant on American Juniors in 2003, the spin off American Idol for kids. We discuss her interaction with host Ryan Seacrest plus judges Debbie Gibson, Justin Guarini and Gladys Knight and fellow soon to be famous contestants Keke Palmer and Lucy Hale. We also discuss the ‘backstage” politics between “stage moms” and just how real is a show like American Idol, or in this case, American Juniors. After American Juniors, Kristinia knew that music was for her and she began a several year long working relationship with Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds. That relationship led to her first record deal. As a result of that record deal, she opened for Britney Spears on the 2009 Circus Tour. O-M-F-G. Kristinia discusses not only what it was like to open for one of Pop’s most successful acts of all times, but what Britney was like at the time considering it was directly after for infamous “meltdown” period, what the atmosphere as like backstage, the interactions between Britney and her Dad and where she stands today on the “Free Britney” Movement. Kristinia is currently working on new music while running her Cosmetics Company, Krissy D. Cosmetics and is happy to share her products as well as her insight with how to run a successful cosmetics brand with us!
