According to the Drake Equation there are approximately 40 bajillion habitable planets in our galaxy. Ok, the number is a little lower (and a little more specific than that), but the point remains the same...with all of these planets capable of sustaining life, why isn’t the galaxy just teeming with extra-terrestrials? Or, put more succinctly- where the heck are all the aliens? Enrico Fermi posed this question to some scientist friends at a lunch in 1950 and it’s been known as the “Fermi Paradox” ever since.
