Description
Darrell Waltrip is a NASCAR legend. He is a three-time Cup Series champion (1981, 1982, 1985) and posted a modern NASCAR series record of 22 top-five finishes in 1983, and 21 top-five finishes both in 1981 and 1986. Overall, Waltrip won 84 NASCAR Cup Series races, including the 1989 Daytona 500, and a record five victories in the Coca-Cola 600 (1978, 1979, 1985, 1988, 1989). He began his racing career in 1972 and retired following the 2000 season. In 1989 and 1990, he was voted Most Popular Driver on the Winston Cup Series circuit. In 1998, he was named one of NASCAR’s 50 Greatest Drivers, and in 2012 he was inducted into NASCAR’s Hall of Fame.
