Max Scherzer and Miles Mikolas each put up seven scoreless innings in the New York Mets series opener against the St. Louis Cardinals, as the two teams did not score until they got into each other's bullpens.
St. Louis jumped out to a lead in the bottom of the eighth, scoring two runs off Trevor May. The Mets were down to their final out in the ninth and then magic struck. Nolan Arenado made an error, the Mets got some clutch hits and found a way to score five runs to put the Cardinals away.
