Description
On November 8th, 2018 the small mountain town of Paradise, California was forever changed by the devastating Camp Fire that swept through the area. It took 28 days for the fire to be contained with over 153,000 acres burned, 85 deaths, 17 injured, and 18,804 buildings destroyed. In 2010 Paradise had a population of 26,218. It’s estimated today that Paradise 4,478 or about 17% of the population before the Camp fire in 2018. On this episode of the podcast, we talk with Charles Brooks (rebuildparadise.org), Rouben Mohiuddin (Cal State Chico), and Barry Long (Urban Design Associates) to talk about the rebuilding efforts, what can be done to prevent such tragedies from reoccurring and, how architects can support communities that have been impacted by similar disasters
