In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Chris Trevino are back putting a bow on Pac-12 Media Day, talking about what head coach Lincoln Riley, quarterback Caleb Williams and linebacker Shane Lee had to say about this Trojan football team heading into the 2022 college football season. Expectations are high for this team and Riley talked about the goal of winning championships right away, which would be a remarkable turnaround considering the team went 4-8 last season.
They also look ahead to what usually is the official start of the college football season, the opening of fall camp The Trojans hit the practice field for the first time on Friday and there are a few different wrinkles this time around. First, some of the practices will be held in the morning, something we haven't seen around the program in about a decade. There will also be more opportunities for the media to watch the first portions of practices and conduct interviews after the workout, similar to what we saw in the spring but certainly very different from what Riley's fall practice policy was at Oklahoma. And before camp starts USC will hold a Media Day on Thursday with a couple dozen players and coaches available during a 4-hour window, something we haven't ever seen since we started covering this team in 1996.
The guys also take a look at the roster and give an update on USC's overall scholarship count heading into the season plus they breakdown what they feel USC's offensive depth chart will be now that the fall roster is set.
