Description
Husky Oil Company was responsible for an Oil Spill of 250,000 Litres off the Coast of St. John's, Newfoundland last November (2018). The slick was 21 km long and 8 km wide; however, the media relations people for the company did not make the dimensions of the slick available for the public. Why didn't they make it available? Perhaps it was because the public has difficulty picturing how much Ocean a 250,000 Litre oil spill would cover. Academics from Memorial University would like to see more research by Husky and the Provincial/Federal governments to understand how an oil spill will behave in a cold water ocean environment.
