Description
Jon Wertheim (@Jon_Wertheim), Author of the new book “Glory Days”, The Summer of 1984 and the 90 Days that Changed Sports and Culture Forever joins us on @SportsBusinessRadio.
GLORY DAYS is the story of the summer of 1984 and its outsized impact on American sports, culture, and life. History doesn’t send out advance invitations, so no one was quite prepared for this pivotal season. But looking back, this was a critical plot point in the fabric of America. The book features original reporting and interviews on everything from the origins of Michael Jordan’s Nike deal to Donald Trump’s USFL ownership to the disastrous Michael Jackson Victory Tour leading to the creation of the New England Patriots dynasty.
Each week in 1984 brought a new release that would echo for decades: Springsteen’s Born in the U.S.A., Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, The Natural, Michael Jackson’s Victory album, Ghostbusters, The Karate Kid, Purple Rain.
