Heading into his light heavyweight tournament final in Bellator on May 17, Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal talks about how much he still enjoys wrestling.Originally from Plano, Texas, Lawal was a late bloomer in the sport, eventually becoming a three-time Division II All-American at Central Oklahoma under coach David James. Lawal used his last remaining year of eligibility in 2003 and finished third at the NCAA Division I championships for Oklahoma State. Lawal would go on to win three U.S. Open Championships and make the U.S. World Team in 2005.After leaving wrestling after finishing second at the 2008 Olympic Trials, Lawal began an MMA career. He started out in Japan and competed in a few different promotions before landing in Bellator.He's now training with Ricardo Liborio at American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Fla.He speaks highly of young up-and-coming Olympic hopefuls like Tyrell Fortune and talks about his admiration for some of freestyle wrestling's big names including Jordan Burroughs, Kyle Dake and David Taylor.Lawal speaks candidly about wrestling, the sport's fanbase and his personal goals in the rapidly growing world of MMA.
