Billy Vaughn, Gold Star father to Navy SEAL Aaron whose story has now been made into a movie, FALLEN ANGEL Call Sign : Extortion 17 and Israel Del Toro, Air Force Senior Master Sergeant Israel Del Toro, “DT” as we affectionately call him, was serving a tour in Afghanistan in 2005 when his Humvee rolled over an improvised explosive device (IED). Del Toro suffered severe burns on more than 80 percent of his body, and doctors gave him just a 15 percent chance of survival. Through the love and support of his family, Del Toro not only survived, but he went on to accomplish more than he ever dreamed.

 

Billy Vaughn, father of Navy SEAL Aaron, lost his son when government missteps led to the largest loss of life incident in the Afghanistan war. 30 Americans made the ultimate sacrifice for their country when their U.S. Army helicopter exploded over the Tangi Valley in Afghanistan killing all onboard.  

 

Ten years later, as the Taliban seizes cities across Afghanistan, Vaughn says his son would be sickened to see where we are in that country today.
