Today we’ll be delving into deep margin elevation and isolation. This episode is a two part series so be sure to come back next week. Deep margin elevation (DME) is a restorative technique which can at times be a viable alternative to crown lengthening. This approach was first presented by Didier Dietschi in 1998 and is sometimes also known as coronal margin relocation. It involves raising deep subgingival proximal margins in a coronal direction with composite. However, deep margin elevation must be used with careful isolation and a matrix band. Dr. Gerdolle will give you a foundational definition on deep margin elevation aka DME, talk about how to achieve good isolation and what type of magnification you should be using. This episode features none other than biomimetic master and leader, Dr. David Gerdolle. Dr. Gerdolle  achieved a number of Postgraduate Diplomas from the Universities of Paris and Gothenburg, in Oral and Osteo-articular  Biology, Implantology, Prosthodontics and Adhesive Dentistry. Dr. Gerdolle was a professor at the University of Nancy in France from 1993 to 2005 and now maintains a private practice in Switzerland. He has lectured worldwide in seminars and congresses, as well as provided a multitude of hands on courses.
