George Lucas' Response to Killing Off Luke Skywalker: In Star Wars Return of the Jedi, George Lucas and his team discussed the early treatment of the story and its characters, namely, Luke Skywalker. A good debate transcript from 1981-82 reveals Geroge Lucas' response to Lawrence Kasdan when proposed to kill Luke Skywalker in Return of the Jedi. George has an eloquent way of discussing the matter as to why he feels that would not be the best thing at all. The FAKE Return of the Jedi Script with Luke Written to Avoid Spoilers: The Making of Star Wars Return of the Jedi reveals a ton of stuff about the movie and original script. In today's episode, let's go over the fake script that was put out there when the film wasn't released yet. George Lucas instated this fake script to avoid spoilers in the audience, which of course, was way easier to avoid back then, than today. In this fake script, we get Luke Skywalker defeating Palpatine, throwing the Emperor over the railing as Vader did. We also see a different Vader when Luke unmasks him.
