How many times have Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots brought in a new player in free agency and handed them a top-dollar contract? Well, now the Patriots have made splashes by bringing in the top two tight ends on the market in Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith and made them tied for the 3rd highest paid at their position in the entire league.
And then Belichick brought in a pair of receivers in Nelson Agholor and Kendrick Bourne. And then handed the bag to pass rusher Matt Judon. And then gave a ton of money to defensive back Jalen Mills. AND THEN bolstered the defensive line with Davon Godshaux and Henry Anderson.
Oh, and then they retained Justin Bethel and Cam Newton and Carl Davis and Deatrich Wise, and traded for Trent Brown.
Belichick doesn't want to lose again and these moves set the Patriots up to compete for the next 5 years.
