Description
On this episode, it’s a very special edition of the No Chill Podcast. We actually started this one a year ago and tracked DJ McDonald from one season to the next. DJ’s basketball story is one we can all relate to. Every hooper of every ability goes through the ups and downs that the game throws at you. In DJ’s case, a promising high school career brought him to UC Riverside in California. But not making it in the rotation and being overlooked for one reason or another had DJ ready to give up on the game. He lost the love and the drive to grind and new he wasn’t the player he wanted to be.For Gil, this hit close to home... He’d known DJ and his dad Darryl for years in the Valley AAU scene. He’d watched DJ grow into a score first, aggressive guard with a promising future. Gil worked with DJ over the years and was on top of his progression. So we sat down with DJ in the summer of 2020 when he was at his basketball crossroads. You’ll find out just how down he was and pretty much checked out. Fast forward to this year and made his way to Colorado Christian and has been producing at a high clip. He re-dedicated his craft and rekindled his love to hoop.
