Description

Candace Parker is one of the most decorated female basketball players to ever put on a uniform. Candace was the first overall pick in the 2008 WNBA Draft,  A WNBA Champion, WNBA Finals MVP, 2x WNBA MVP, 2x Gold Medalist, and WNBA Rookie of the Year. But that incedibe legacy was definitely not guaranteed, and in fact could have easily been cut short by a devastating ACL tear during high school that required surgery to repair.  In a recent interview, Candace was asked about what it took to develop her winning mindset, and she actually pointed to that injury and her road to recovery as the time in her life that she developed the tenacity to overcome obstacles. Specifically, Candice shared that after a doctor told her that she may never play basketball again, her Dad challenged her to look at herself in the mirror and make a decision to fully recover rather than throw a pity party.  We’ve all had the tendency to throw a pity party when things go terribly wrong, but at the end of the day feeling bad for ourselves and complaining about the situation is never a solution.  Thank you Candace for the reminder to rsvp NO to the pity party and instead pour your energy into overcoming the obstacles in the path to your big dreams.  For our show notes, visit DreamBigPodcast.com/255
