Today's interview is with Maimah Karmo. Maimah is a mother, philanthropist, author, advocate, cancer warrior, magazine publisher, life coach, entrepreneur, badass and unicorn. Maimah's story began in Liberia, West Africa, where she was born. After surviving two wars in Liberia, during a third coup d'état, she fled to the United States at 15 years old, when her father put her on a plane, alone, to avoid persecution due to the war. She worked her way through college and created her version of the American Dream. Maimah was raising a beautiful 3-year old when she was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer in 2006. She had no family history and was 32-years old. While in treatment, Maimah made a promise to God that if she survived, she would create an organization to educate, empower, advocate for and support young women affected by breast cancer.
