Description

Today's episode is with Sophia Chang. Sophia's memoir THE BADDEST BITCH IN THE ROOM is a 360 degree immersive and unprecedented audio experience that combines character voices reading their own dialogue, original score, licensed music, sound design, and bonus content. A number of hip hop luminaries, including members of the Wu-Tang Clan have lent their voices to the project. Some notable secret artists have also contributed original music for the score. As the child of Korean immigrants raised in Vancouver, Sophia wanted to be white until she heard “The Message” by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five in her senior year of high school. She diverged wildly from the prescribed path of academia to flee to New York where she would become the first Asian woman in hip-hop. Throughout her storied career, she worked with Paul Simon as well as managed Wu-Tang Clan members ODB, RZA, GZA, as well as Q Tip, A Tribe Called Quest, Raphael Saadiq, and D'Angelo. In 1995, Chang left the music business to train kung fu and manage a 34th Generation Shaolin monk who would become her partner and father of her two children. Always ready to embrace new challenges, she also worked in fashion at a digital agency, and wrote a screenplay for HBO. THE BADDEST BITCH IN THE ROOM is for anyone who ever felt marginalized, invisible, undervalued, anyone who was ever told that you can't follow your dreams, anyone who was ever made to feel that you don't belong, anyone who dares to defy stereotypes, rules, and expectations, and anyone who has the audacity to tell their story and pursue their passion.Resources Mentioned In The EpisodeSophia's book: https://www.audible.com/pd/The-Baddest-Bitch-in-the-Room-Audiobook/B07TVKM94R
