Description
In this week’s episode of Podcast from Washington, NACCHO government affairs team members Ian Goldstein and Eli Briggs discuss the approaching end of the fiscal year on September 30, and how Congress intends to keep the government funded. They also discuss the forecast for a coronavirus relief package that will benefit local health departments. Finally, they discuss the imminent rollout of a coronavirus vaccine. Later in the program, Ian sits down with Karla Feeser, NACCHO’s Senior Research Analyst; Dr. Jacquelynn Orr, Program Officer for Research Evaluation and Learning at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation; and Dr. Sergey Sotnikov, Economist at the Center for State, Tribal, Local and Territorial Support at the CDC to discuss the findings of NACCHO’s 2019 Local Health Department Profile Study. They discuss their research and evaluation of Profile data and how that information can be invaluable for health departments, policymakers, and researchers to better understand funding, workforce, capacity, and other aspects that affect the way services are resourced and delivered by local health departments in their communities, as well as how they compare to health departments of other sizes or in other states.
