Description

This episode takes a deep dive into the world of Entertainment Auctions which have EXPLODED in recent years thanks to the good ol’ Internet. The panel discusses the processes of putting on a massive 2-day pop culture auction from the acquisition of items to “SOLD!”, how being a fan first drives the business, and the preservation and curation of historical film and tv props/art. Whether or not you’re ready to bid, this podcast and these auctions will have something for you even if you’re simply just a fan of nerdly pop culture. Van Eaton Galleries’ “Disneyland: The First 65 Years” auction is August 15 & 16 (vegalleries.com) and Prop Store’s “Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction: Treasures of Film and Television” is August 26 & 27 (propstore.com). Both will be viewable online and really fun to watch!

I am Chris Hardwick. This podcast used to be called Nerdist. Now it is not. It is still basically just me talking about stuff and things with my two nerdy friends Jonah Ray and Matt Mira when they’re available, and usually someone more famous and smarter than all of us. Swearing is still fun, so we still do that occasionally. I hope you like this new iteration which is the same as before, but if a name hangs you up unhealthily I’m sure you will not hesitate to unfurl your rage not only in the ‘reviews’ section but also now on all the various social media platforms that have popped up since we started in 2010, effectively murdering blogs.
