Description

The message was delivered on Sunday, May 17, 2015, at All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, by Rev. Dr. Marlin Lavanhar, Senior Minister.
MESSAGE DESCRIPTION
On May 3rd, I mentioned the laughter, play and joyfulness in my home these days. I contrasted that with the weeks and months following my daughter’s death in 2006. There was a time when I wondered if we would ever feel joy again. Wondered if the cold, stale air of grief would ever be blown away by the fresh winds of a renewal and happiness. As we go deeper into our theme of transcendence this month, I want to look at the human capacity to transcend loss, tragedy and grief. How do we do it? Is it really possible? What are the trail markers that can help us find our way back home to a life of abundant and radiant joy? We dishonor those we love and lose if we cannot find a way forward to life’s greatest fulfillment.
