Prue Harrison lives in Singapore, also known as the Lion City, and she works in Marketing and Branding. Prue shares some animal rescue stories, talks about the importance of fostering, and shares her personal journey from England to Southeast Asia. Singapore’s SPCA (The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) started in the 1800’s, and was revived again in 1947. http://www.spca.org.sg HDB stands for Housing and Development Board, which manages public housing in Singapore. Eighty percent of residents live in HDB units. Prue Harrison mentions that HDB rules have prohibited cats, and have only allowed very small dogs, although Project ADORE has changed that to a degree. Project ADORE (ADOption and REhoming of dogs) allows some medium-sized dogs (15 kg in weight, 50 cm in height) to be adopted in HDB housing under specific conditions. http://www.spca.org.sg/news_details.asp?id=837 Black dog syndrome - some studies have shown that black dogs get adopted at less frequent rates than other color dogs, and this can also lead to higher euthanasia rates. https://www.petfinder.com/pet-adoption/dog-adoption/black-dog-syndrome/ Thank you Prue Harrison!
