Description

Will Shortz eat your heart out! Andrew & Polly talk to some real puzzlemasters - Devin, Westley, Bela, Lane & Lucy - about what it feels like to be puzzled. Matthew Inabinett, paleontologist-in-training at the Beneski Museum of Natural History, helps us piece together how dinosaurs, birds and continental drift are all part of the same puzzle.  Plus, a new song about when you don't the word for that thing.  You know, the thing. Kids can go bananas when there's not enough for them to do but they meltdown in an entirely different way when they are overwhelmed. Confusion is a really natural thing for kids to encounter and it can be frustrating when they don't know the solution to a problem. What's more, kids go about solving problems many different ways. "But you just gotta put things together - to put one piece, one piece, the next piece, until you get the whole thing done.  When you get the whole thing done, you'll be pretty proud of yourself, especially if it's big." - Westley, age-8 For more information about Ear Snacks or to find out how to be on the show, visit earsnacks.org To find out more about the Beneski Museum of Natural History and Identify It Day, check out its website: https://www.amherst.edu/museums/naturalhistory
