Hungry for the Alpha: Paranormal Werewolf Romance
Celia KyleKyle’s hilariously raunchy shifter romances have plenty of sexy action as well as over-the-top situations. In this book, a werewolf finds his fated mate in a curvy lioness who runs a local bakery. She’s unwilling to succumb to the mating bond, however, and he has to conquer her concerns as well as keep other suitors at bay.
Sedona Surrender
Lisa KesslerA veterinarian — who’s also a werewolf — meets the sister of one of his packmates, meaning he absolutely should not get involved with her. Too bad she’s his fated mate. Kessler’s “Sedona Pack” series is packed (no pun intended) with complicated relationships that are exacerbated by pack dynamics.
Blood of the Pack
Cassie AlexanderAlexander describes her “Dark Ink Tattoo” series as “X-rated ‘Sons of Anarchy,’” but she also adds in paranormal elements, meaning the gang is made up of werewolves and vampires, not just motorcyclist criminals. The series is set in Las Vegas, and it’s as gritty and brutal as the Sunset Strip after all the tourists have gone to bed.
The Billionaire Werewolf's Witch: BBW Paranormal Werewolf Romance
Celia KyleKyle’s rompy sendups of traditional tropes — boss/secretary, sworn enemies to lovers, billionaire hero — makes “The Billionaire Werewolf’s Witch” a fun read. The heroine is more than a match for her hero, and their interactions are filled with humor.
Caught Between Three Billionaire Tycoons
Willa HartAs the book title says, the heroine is wooed by three different billionaire tycoons — who also happen to be shifters. This reverse harem romance is delightfully comedic as well as sexy, and it’s fun watching the heroine navigate her very complicated love life.
Shifting Seasons
Sheryl NantusIn this holiday shifter book, a woman rescues an injured otter and puts it in her bathtub — only to discover a naked man there the next morning. It’s a fun, surprisingly poignant romance, and an otter shifter hero is a rarity amongst all the shifter books.
Sedona Scandal
Lisa Kessler“Sedona Scandal” continues Kessler’s “Sedona Pack” series and pairs a jaguar shifter hero with a human-turned-werewolf heroine. She wants to find a cure for her illness, even if it means exposing the entire shifter world, and he wants to keep his day job as a news anchor with no exposure of his jaguar persona. Kessler’s paranormal romances are intense and evocative, with plenty of high stakes for the protagonists.
Dragon Her Feet: BBW Paranormal Shapeshifter Romance
Celia KyleKyle brings joyous fun to this shifter romance, pairing a werehedgehog with a dragon shifter. The plus-size heroine, Katie, might not breathe fire, but she is prickly. Her hero, Joey, is besotted with her, but can’t figure out how to persuade her that they’re meant for each other. From the title to the last sentence, “Dragon Her Feet” is fun, sassy, and sexy.
The Truth About Night
Amanda AristaIs it a mystery? Is it a paranormal? Is it a romance? Yes! Merci Lanard is an investigative journalist who uncovers a wealth of secrets when her partner is killed. The book succeeds on every level — from unraveling the mystery to revealing the paranormal world Merci has never seen before to the Scottish professor who is definitely more than what he seems.
Sedona Sin
Lisa KesslerThe first full-length book in Kessler’s “Sedona Pack” series presents a world fraught with danger. The titular Pack of werewolves have overthrown their corrupt and dangerous Alpha, leaving them with a power void. The Pack has to navigate its post-Alpha world while rebuffing threats from other shifters who sense an opportunity for domination. Loyalty, family dynamics, and Pack hierarchy are woven throughout “Sedona Sin,” underpinning the growing romance.
Hedging His Bets: BBW Paranormal Shapeshifter Romance
Celia KyleFans of Shelly Laurenston will want to pick this one up: “Hedging His Bets” is a delightfully ribald romance between a plus-sized woman and a bossy werehedgehog hero. It’s got loads of banter, some fun puns, and lots of sexy encounters.
The Truth About Blood
Amanda AristaIn the second “Merci Lanard” book, Merci is determined to use her investigative journalism skills to track down the truth about her demon lineage. “The Truth About Night” introduced her to a shifter community, and all the secrets contained therein; this second book dives deeper, exploring what it means to be part of a community, working through the trauma of newly discovered secrets. Merci is a bold, plain-spoken protagonist whose dogged determination is admirable to the reader and frustrating to the people she’s trying to get information from.
Sedona Seduction
Lisa KesslerKessler’s “Sedona Pack” series is filled with complicated relationships and dynamics, and toys with the usually set notion of what a Pack means. A jaguar shifter has joined the Sedona Pack, but he’s got secrets in his past that could jeopardize everyone he cares about. His love interest is a wolf who won’t give up on her fated mate, despite his own misgivings.
The Truth About Shadows
Amanda AristaArista’s “Merci Lanard” series takes Merci to Scotland with her shifter boyfriend, where suddenly there are pack-related crimes. Merci has to solve them, as well as navigate life with her very different partner. This series is equal parts shifter romance and murder mystery, there the resolution to both plotlines is equally satisfying..
Blood at Dusk
Cassie Alexander“Blood at Dusk” continues Alexander’s “Dark Ink Tattoo” series, sharing the origin stories of both Jack and Angela. It’s gritty and darkly sexual, and Alexander’s intense writing makes the characters come alive.
Gentleman Wolf
Joanna ChambersAn 18th-century werewolf has been freed after centuries of imprisonment, and his captor is on his trail. To evade him, he goes to Edinburgh, where he meets a Scottish architect. The writing is evocatively lovely, and the narration is just as charming. There is no Happily Ever After here, the book is a duology that continues in “Master Wolf.”
Feral Sins
Suzanne WrightWright’s “Phoenix Pack” series begins with “Feral Sins,” which tosses in the “fake relationship” trope so beloved in contemporary and historical romances. The two werewolves are from rival packs, and the heroine does not want to marry the wolf her father has chosen. Binding herself to the Alpha of another pack will make both packs stronger, so she and the hero agree to a fake engagement — until very real emotions set in.
A Hunger Like No Other
Kresley ColeCole’s “Immortals After Dark” launched with this book, “A Hunger Like No Other,” and thus one of the most over-the-top and wonderful paranormal romance series was born. The hero is a werewolf who is appalled to learn his fated mate is a half-Valkyrie/half-vampire, but he can’t resist fate.
Wolf with Benefits
Shelly LaurenstonLaurenston’s distinctly snarky humor is on full display in “Wolf with Benefits,” a book in her “Pride” series. The heroine is the only untalented one among her 10 siblings, so it’s up to her to corral the geniuses in her family. The hero is a laidback wolf who’s working as security in NYC, hired to protect the heroine as she works with a hockey team made up of Russian bears (for real).
