About this ebook
"Now I know why he left me, I am a coward, I can't even take my life, I can't do anything worthwhile," I told the air, shamefully. I attempted to move away from the edge but my leg slipped. My hands were flaying, my eyes bulging, a scream Lodged in my throat, refusing to be let out, fear held me in his grip.
"Is this it?" I thought, as I watched the edge on which I once stood get farther and farther away from me, my life unfolding before me. I forced my eyes close, deciding to accept my fate, I mean, I had no other option then I stopped. I stopped falling and from the pull on my leg, I guess, it wasn't my supernatural strength surfacing because I was dying. I tried opening my eyes to see my savior but at that moment, those hands pulled me up roughly and I banged my head against the walls and blanked out.

CHAPTER 91 The Same Person
Leah's POV
I burst out of the hospital, urgency coursing through my veins. I hailed a cab with a swift gesture, my eyes locked on the address Scarlet had sent me. Take me here,
I directed the driver, my voice firm and resolute as I pointed the phone to him.
After what the doctor told me, I knew I shouldn't be pushing myself to the limit. I know I need to take a step back, sit down, and think about things because my health is in danger. Yet, here I was, racing against time.
But at this moment, revealing the truth to Scarlet felt more pressing than my health. The burden of secrets threatened to suffocate me, And I felt I needed to get it off my chest.
As we arrived at the address, the place looked like a hidden warehouse. I instructed the taxi to stop, and I stepped out, when I got down my senses heightened. The unfamiliar surroundings sent a shiver down my spine; I had never been here before.
And it's kind of unusual for Scarlet to ask us to meet here, but I didn't think too much about it, I just felt like maybe whatever we wanted to talk about was important, and she doesn't want anyone to eavesdrop on us.
I took a deep breath, summoning a little courage, as I stepped into the warehouse. It was dimly lit, but then a faint light was coming from a distant corner. So I just automatically assumed that that was where Scarlet was.
So I moved closer, it was like a small room in the warehouse, I walked into the room where the light was coming from.
I hastened my steps eager to go and meet Scarlet, when it suddenly turned to horror. A trail of blood on the floor caught my attention, and I froze, my feet rooted to the spot.
Panic coursed through my veins like ice water, my heart racing with every passing moment. I frantically scanned my surroundings, my eyes darting wildly, searching if I would see anyone.
I stared at the bloodstains. What happened here? Why was there blood on the floor? I Hope Scarlet is fine. A thousand questions swirled in my head, each one fueling my growing unease. I needed answers, and I needed them now.
Tracking the bloodstains, I stumbled upon a scene that made my blood run cold. A figure lay motionless, bathed in a pool of blood. Denial gripped me, unwilling to accept the unmistakable features. Yet, as the figure shifted, our gazes locked, and reality slapped me with brutal force. It was Scarlet – broken, battered, and bleeding.
What!
I gasped, my voice barely audible as my mouth wide open in stunned silence. Time seemed to freeze, my brain struggling to process the scene before me.
I stood there, my eyes locked on Scarlet, as Scarlet struggled to make out a word. Her lips moved, her eyes pleading, but no sound came out. I was frozen in place, paralyzed by shock and uncertainty, I couldn't even muster the courage to approach her or offer any comfort.
Then after a while, I snapped back to reality, and I rushed to Scarlet's side. Embracing her gently, I whispered urgently, What happened?
My voice trembled, tears streaming down my face as I watched my best friend struggle for her life. We need to get you to the hospital, now,
I pleaded.
As I saw her in this state, all my intentions, to come and tell Scarlet, everything I had discovered flew off my head, and all I could think of was how I would take her to the hospital fast and save my best friend.
As Scarlet struggled to speak, her voice was barely audible, choked by her labored breathing. Yet, with all her remaining effort, she mouthed a single, urgent word: R...run...
Her eyes locked onto mine, pleading, and her frail hands gestured weakly as if shooing me away.
She nudged me lightly, again and again, her message a little clearer this time: Go, leave me, save yourself.
Shh, don't try to speak,
I whispered, my voice gentle but firm. You don't have to say anything, not now. Just rest, and breathe. We need to get you treated first
I sought to reassure her, to calm her struggles, as I cradled her in my arms.
I was confused I didn't know what to do, or who to call, But then, an idea struck me - I needed to seek help. I couldn't do this alone. With that thought, I sprang into action, rising to my feet and ready to ask for help.
But as I turned to leave, Scarlet's fragile hand grasped mine, holding tight. Scarlet, please, let go,
I begged, my voice cracking with desperation. I need to get help, I can't lose you like this.
Tears streamed down my face, blurring my vision, as I tried to gently remove her hand.
This isn't what I was expecting to see, I was expecting to come and see Scarlet, talk about the issue, and know what to do next not meet her lying down in the pool of her blood.
As Scarlet's fragile grip tightened around my hand, she summoned every last ounce of strength to whisper, Delilah... and... Lucy... are... the same person.
Her voice was barely audible, a faint whisper that forced me to lean in, my ears straining to catch each word.
I didn't understand, I know who Lucy is but I don't know who Delilah is.
Who is Delilah?
I asked, my curiosity piqued, forgetting that Scarlet was struggling to speak.
Delilah... is the representative of the vampire in the orders
she struggled to reply, as she paused after every word, as if gathering enough energy to say the next word.
What?!
I exclaimed, my voice laced with shock and confusion. What are you talking about, Scarlet? How can Delilah and Lucy be the same person?
I fired off a barrage of questions, my mind racing to process what I just heard.
What do you mean? How is that possible? Tell me everything!
I begged, my curiosity getting the better of me, as for a split second I forgot Scarlet's condition.
And she wanted to try and speak again, she wanted to reply to me, but then she was running out of energy, she was already dying.
I soaked in tears, as I watched my best friend struggle for her life and I couldn't even do anything to help her.
I stared at Scarlet, my eyes pleading with hers, willing her to fight, to survive. And then, a whisper, barely audible, reached my ears - Leah.
I focused intently on her lips, tracing the movement of her words, as her voice was barely a breath. If I hadn't watched her lips, I would have missed it entirely.
Run for your life, call Damian,
Scarlet whispered, her words trailing off as her eyes glazed over, and she slipped into unconsciousness.
I stood frozen, reeling from the shock, as the world around me turned upside down.
My hands were drenched in Scarlet's blood, trembling uncontrollably as I gazed at her lifeless form. My eyes were frozen wide
What the hell just happened?
I thought. How did it happen? Who could have possibly done this?
CHAPTER 92 Chaos
Leah's POV
Overwhelmed with grief, I clutched Scarlet's lifeless form, my body racked with sobs. I shook her, begging her to open her eyes, to come back to me. My voice was hoarse from screaming.
As I held Scarlet's limp body, a sudden realization dawned on me. Her words echoed in my mind: Delilah and Lucy are the same person.
The puzzle pieces clicked into place, and I knew, with chilling certainty, that they were the ones behind this heinous act.
I seethed with rage, my mind racing with the devastating truth. They are all evil,
I muttered, my voice barely audible. Delilah, Aiden, my father - the names echoed in my mind. Each face represented a piece of the twisted puzzle that had done this to Scarlet.
As I stood frozen, Scarlet's final instruction echoed within me: Call Damian.
Initially, I believed Lucy was the only one doing everything, pulling the strings and all, But it seems like she is just a part of it. My father and Aiden are also playing important roles in everything.
But it was my father's involvement that left me utterly bewildered and shaken. I wasn't expecting it at all, I know my father can be harsh, and strict but I never saw him as evil.
And now, they know that Scarlet knows about them that's why they killed her, to prevent her from exposing them.
I was consumed by a maelstrom of emotions- anger, grief, and despair- as I struggled to process the unimaginable.
Tears streamed down my face, blurring my vision. With trembling hands, I reached for my phone, desperate to reach Damian, my only hope. I dialed his number, my fingers stumbling over the keys.
Just as the phone began to ring, a sudden, violent motion snatched my phone from my hand. And smashed to the floor, the screen shattering into a thousand pieces. The abrupt silence was deafening.
I turned around quickly, my heart racing, as fear and surprise coursed through my veins. Where had that hand come from? I had thought I was alone, the only one here.
As I turned, my gaze locked onto Aiden's smug, self-satisfied grin.
I turned back to Scarlet's lifeless form, my eyes scanning her body with renewed urgency. That's when I saw its mark seared into her flesh. My heart sank as I recognized the unmistakable sign of a werewolf's claw.
My gaze snapped back to Aiden, His hands were full of blood. The evidence was clear. Aiden was the monster responsible for Scarlet's murder.
You!
I spat, my voice trembling with rage. You killed her!
I accused my words echoing through the room.
In a blur of fury, I sprang to my feet and launched myself at Aiden, my fists flying. I struck him with all my might, my blows fueled by grief, anger, and betrayal.
His eyes widened in surprise, but he didn't defend himself. Instead, he stood there, his grin still plastered on his face, as if mocking me, mocking Scarlet's memory.
My attack was relentless, driven by the rage burning within me. I pounded his chest, his face, anywhere my fists could land.
Then Aiden changed in an instant. His gaze turned cold, as he pushed me backward, and I crashed to the floor.
Stop acting stupid,
he sneered, his voice dripping with contempt. The words cut deep, but the venom in his tone was nothing compared to the poison of his actions.
My body trembling with rage and grief. My fingers shook as I pointed at Aiden, accusation etched on my face.
How dare you?
I screamed, my voice echoing off the walls. How dare you take her life?
The words spilled out, fueled by anger.
She's my best friend, my confidante..., She's innocent.
Tears streamed down my face as I wailed, my heart shattered.
Aiden's words sliced through my anger, his tone indifferent. She's not innocent,
he declared, his voice devoid of emotion. She dug too deep, and she got what she deserved.
Aiden's words dripped with condescension and blame. If she had just stayed in her lane and done what she was asked to do, she wouldn't have ended up here,
he said, his tone dripping with disdain.
Each word was a spark, fueling the rage within me. How dare he? I thought, my mind seething. How dare he shift the blame from his monstrous actions to Scarlet's innocent curiosity?
I was so confused, my mind reeling from the shocking revelations. I didn't even know what to say anymore, but my desperation for answers drove me to speak.
Why?
I pleaded, my voice barely above a whisper. Why did you take her life, Aiden? What could she possibly have done to deserve such a fate?
My questions tumbled out in rapid succession, fueled by anguish and confusion. What do you plan to gain from this? Why are you doing all this?
My voice cracked, emotions threatening to overwhelm me.
Aiden's expression changed. You think I'm dumb?
he sneered, Walking into my home, pretending to be on my side? Please. I have seen through your charade.
He took a deliberate step closer, his words slicing through the air. I know all about your sneaky meetings with Scarlet. I know about your findings, I know everything.
Aiden's tone turned menacing. And the only reason why I didn't take action is because Lucy told me not to, and I should just be calm, that we need you to know if Damian is alive.
I shook my head, desperation creeping into my voice. "I still don't understand, what do you aim to gain?
My gaze locked onto his, searching for any sign of remorse. You have killed innocent children, you are married to a shape-shifter, you have done so many horrible things and even dragged my father into this,
I said, my voice rising fueled by the rage.
Shut up! Do you are so quick to judge me, but you are clueless about your own father's involvement? Newsflash: this whole thing was your father's idea. Do you think he's a saint just because he's your dad? Think again. He's just as twisted and evil as I am. If you are going to label me evil, then have the guts to apply the same standard to your precious father. He's not the hero you think he is; he's just as guilty as I am.
He explained.
I'm completely lost, struggling to make sense of this chaos. When did things get out of control like this?
I want to know what Aiden aims to gain with everything he has done, What could he possibly gain from all this? I have been racking my brain, but I just can't see why he would resort to killing innocent children. And what about my father? What could he possibly gain from such evil?
Is it possible they are doing all this just to frame Damian?
Just then Aiden interrupted my thoughts I know you might be wondering why we did everything we did, well I'm going to make it easy for you and tell you all that you need to know, since you like poking your nose where it doesn't belong, and going around people's business, I'm going to let you on everything you need to know.
CHAPTER 93 You Are All Monsters
Aiden's POV
Leah crumpled on the floor, her body soaked with sobs, her whole body shaking, as she stared at her dead friend who was lying close to her. And I just stood there watching the heartbreaking scene with a smile spreading across my face.
As I watched the scene before me, a sense of satisfaction washed over me like I had just completed a difficult mission.
I felt no remorse, not at all for ending Scarlet's life. In my mind, I felt like I had granted her far too much grace, I allowed her to overstep boundaries.
I noticed everything, how she was going around digging, I even sent several threatening messages, warning her to back off, but no, she was too stubborn, thinking she could expose us, so she ended up finding out about Lucy's secret as a shapeshifter.
So I thought it was time to end her so the secret won't come out.
I didn't marry Lucy because of love or any fantasy. I saw an opportunity and decided to seize it, Lucy and I have a common agenda. And that agenda is to create more hybrids.
Lucy, or rather Delilah, was the vampire representative in the Orders, so her interest in this kind of plan surprised me. I have had that interest for a very long time because I felt like since my father did it, I also could.
But in the real sense, my aim went beyond creating hybrids alone, I wanted to create beings that would answer solely to me, the one I can control anyhow I like. So that it will reduce the ego of someone like Damian, and I can be in total control. So that is why we decided to form a union together.
Sometime later, I noticed Nathan's behavior and decided to tell him about our plan, curious about his reaction. And to my surprise, he wanted in for the same reasons, we felt like we needed an army of hybrids.
And the only way we could do it was using humans, we need to use a different approach. During the first experiment, my father used vampires and it ended in total failure.
And I didn't want mine to end that way, I couldn't afford to fail, so I decided Why not use humans?
and that was why we kidnapped those high school children.
Leah's voice pierced the tension, her words laced with accusation. Why did you do all this? Why?
she demanded, her eyes blazing with a mix of anger and sorrow.
I met her gaze, my tone unapologetic. Leah, are you too dumb to comprehend, to see the bigger picture here? Or are you just pretending not to see it?
I asked as if expecting her to answer.
This is life, the reality of power- people will stop at nothing just to get power. Even Damian, right there, would do whatever it takes to get the power he desires.
I explained.
I paused, my gaze locked on Leah's. And you looking at me with those judging eyes, well that is your business. I stand by what I did, and I don't regret it. I kidnapped those children,
as I said that she turned to look at me, her eyes widening.
Yes, I did, and so fucking what, those that died failed the experiment. That's why I had to dump them.
As I was spilling everything, Leah just stood there staring at me, her eyes wide with horror and disgust. Her silence was deafening, and her expression was screaming monster
if not something worse.
I ignored her and forged ahead, my words dripping with indifference. You have been playing a dangerous game, Leah. I have been aware that you have been working for Damian for some time now. I know you have been trying to get information from me.
Leah's eyes flashed with a mix of fear and defiance, but I pressed on, unmoved.
I know all your sneaky meeting with Scarlet, I know everything, And I should have killed you a long time ago, But Lucy is the reason I kept you alive until now, so you should be thankful to her. Because she wanted us to keep you you first, maybe you could be useful to us, to know if Damian is alive or not, but you see now, you are no longer useful so I can eliminate you.
My tone turned cold, each word instilling fear in Leah.
Leah's voice trembled, her words laced with desperation. You are going to kill me, silence me, and cover your tracks,
she accused, her eyes wide with horror.
You think my dad won't come after you? I know we might not be on good terms but he won't keep quiet,
Her voice rose, a mix of fear and defiance.
Your father,
I repeated, and smiled, as if mocking Leah.
He is the easiest person to manipulate, all I have to do is just tell a lie and he would not do anything or even breathe a word to anyone,
He will just find something to cover up, and that's all,
I added, to make Leah ask questions, and also to reveal how evil her father is.
You can't do this to me, Aiden, you can't please,
Leah begged, Her eyes, wide and brimming with tears, implored me to reconsider.
What's the point of sparing your life?
I sneered, my tone dripping with disdain. Give me one reason why I shouldn't kill you right now, Damian is already out of the picture, Scarlet as well is out of the equation, and the very moment you are also out of the picture, nothing will stand in my way.
I will be the most powerful man, and have the most powerful woman by my side
I declared.
Shock was written all over her face, and evident in her voice. No! This can't be,
she whispered, her voice trembling. I thought it was just you and your amiable wife, that are behind everything that is happening. But now I know, everything is clear to me.
Everyone's involved,
she stammered. The whole Orders are in on this. You are all monsters.
Her voice rose. You killed Innocent children. And you dared to frame Damian for it, really?
This is exactly why I shouldn't let you live,
I declared, my tone devoid of empathy.
Leah's eyes welled up with desperation as she dropped to her knees. Please, don't kill me,
she begged, her voice cracking with terror.
I can be useful to you,
she implored, grasping for any shred of hope. just spare my life, please
You just kept shouting
spare my life... spare my life, I need you to give me just one reason why I should spare your life," I said, my gaze piercing as I awaited her response.
Tell me, how can you possibly be of use to me?
I pressed, my tone cold.
You don't get it do you, Damian is out of the picture, so there's no way I would need you
I added.
Leah's eyes locked onto mine, a flicker of desperation dancing within them. Her voice barely above a whisper.
Because I'm pregnant.
CHAPTER 94 You Don't Have To Worry
Damian's POV
Is the car ready?
I inquired, preparing to leave the house.
Yes, sir,
Clinton responded sharply.
I was preparing to leave my house since I had an impending meeting with Vincent.
At Vincent and I last meeting, I had asked Vincent to get me all the files about the experiment. So he reached out to Clinton later to set a meeting so we could meet secretly.
I was so surprised, when Vincent reached out to Clinton to arrange a meeting, though I knew he wanted to find the person behind the children's kidnap so bad, but I also had doubts about his ability and loyalty. But this has led me to believe that Vincent is indeed on our side and he is making an effort to show his support.
As I arrived at the place, Vincent greeted me with an air of urgency. Thank God you are here,
he exclaimed, his expression grave. I think this thing is far bigger than we initially thought.
My curiosity piqued, staring at Vincent. What are you talking about?
I asked, my tone laced with confusion.
Vincent's eyes darted around as if checking if someone was watching. The file you told me to get,
he said, his voice hushed.
What about it?
I pressed, my interest intensifying.
Vincent hesitated, his gaze darting around before he eventually spoke up Let go inside and discuss,
he suggested, gesturing that we go inside.
I also thought it was a good idea we go inside, so I gestured to Clinton to stay outside, as we walked in, Vincent's eyes fixed on mine as he opened the file.
Look at this,
he urged, his voice low and serious.
Vincent slid the file across the table, its contents spilling out before me. My eyes scanned the pages, and my eyes widened in shock.
My eyes fixed on the file, my mind trying to process everything. Do you think they are trying to create another set like me?
I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Yes, but this time around, I believe they are taking a different approach,
Vincent said, his voice laced with unease. They are using humans, and those children...that is what they are for.
I felt fear creeping up my spine as I continued to scan the file, my mind racing with the implications.
All this time, they have been manipulating the whole thing, trying to pin down everything on me that I kidnapped the children.
But unknowing to me that some of the members of the order have something to do with this, they are hypocrites, they have been playing this game, they acted like they hated me, they hated my kind all this while and now they are trying to create more set like me
Why?
I demanded, in my head. What is the motive they have to create the very thing they claim to hate?
Are you sure Nathan is the one behind this?
I inquired, my tone laced with skepticism.
Vincent's expression turned cautious. I can't say for sure, whether Nathan is the one behind it or not,
he admitted. But, I do know that the only one that can get hold of this document freely is Nathan." He explained.
But can it be stolen?
I asked, my eyes locking onto Vincent's with an intensity that demanded clarity.
Vincent's expression turned grave, his voice measured. Yes, it can be stolen,
he confirmed, the weight of his words settling like a shadow.
That means Delilah, Hade, and Nathan are all our suspects,
I stated, No one is out of the equation in this matter.
Vincent nodded in agreement, his expression unyielding. Yes. We can't rule out anyone at this point. All of them are suspects.
So, what is our next move, considering the bombshell we have just uncovered?
Vincent asked, his eyes searching for a strategic plan.
I met his gaze with unwavering resolve. You don't have to worry, Leave that to me, I will take care of it,
I replied, my tone firm and decisive.
No way!
Vincent exclaimed, his voice firm but laced with a hint of frustration. I'm your partner in this, not your subordinate. So you can't just do something without filling me in.
I was taken aback by the way he came up at me, but deep down, I knew he was right. Since we were partners I had to fill him in on everything, but I had been so focused on taking charge.
Okay, so I think it's time to bring in my private investigators,
I suggested a strategic glint in my eye. We have them dig deeper and try to find out the location of the lab where these experiments are taking place.
Vincent's interest piqued, as he leaned in, nodding his head, his voice low. That sounds like a good idea.
I nodded, outlining my plansIf we can find the lab's location, we might be able to uncover important information that would help us.
As Vincent and I continued discussing our plan, a sudden, unsettling sensation washed over me. It was like a faint alarm bell in my mind, and I couldn't shake the feeling that Leah was in danger.
My expression must have shown my concern because Vincent's eyes narrowed. Are you okay?
he asked, his voice laced with concern.
I'm fine,
I replied curtly, trying to brush off Vincent's concern, masking my emotion.
We will discuss this later,
I added, my tone firm but preoccupied I have something urgent to attend to.
With that, I swiftly dismissed Vincent and stood up to leave, my mind already racing with the looming threat
