Prologue:
The Question That Changed Everything
Welcome, dear Reader.
◆◆◆
If you are holding this book in your hands, then perhaps, like me, you are searching for something. An answer. A shift. A way forward.
I don’t believe in coincidences. I believe that when something enters your life, it is because you are ready for it. And so, before we dive into the depths of hypnotherapy, I want to share with you the moment that changed everything for me—the moment that led me here, to this book, to this work, and perhaps, to you.
For years, I had built my life around spirituality. I was a meditation teacher, a guide for others on their paths to healing and transformation. It was more than just a calling; it was my way of life. And it gave me the most beautiful gift—I was able to support myself by doing what I loved.
But despite my deep understanding of energy, manifestation, and the power of the mind, there was one thing that kept slipping through my fingers.
Money.
No matter how much I earned, I never seemed to have enough to hold onto. It wasn’t that I was struggling—I always made enough to keep going. But the moment I had extra, it was gone. I donated it, gave it away, made sure it left my hands before it had a chance to settle. And at the time, I never questioned it. Giving felt right. Generosity was part of who I was.
Until one evening, my husband looked at me across the table and asked me a question that stopped me in my tracks.
Why do you never keep anything for yourself?
I blinked, caught off guard.
What do you mean?
I asked.
I mean,
he said, leaning forward, if you have an extra $2,000, why do you give away $1,900 and leave yourself with just enough to survive until your next event? Why not keep half? Why not make sure you’re taken care of too?
It was such a simple question. And yet, I had no answer.
That moment haunted me. I couldn’t let it go. For weeks, I sat with it, meditated on it, journaled about it. Why did I do that? Why did I always ensure that I was just barely getting by?
At first, I thought it was childhood poverty—the years my mother and I struggled, the constant scraping by. Then I thought, perhaps, it was resentment toward money itself—watching how my father used it, how easily it could corrupt.
I tried to heal it. I did the inner work. I processed. I forgave. But nothing changed. The pattern continued. Money still left me as soon as it arrived, and I still couldn’t explain why.
Until I turned to hypnotherapy.
At that point, I had already explored countless healing modalities. I believed in the power of the subconscious mind, but I had never truly explored its depths. But I was determined. I had to understand what was happening beneath the surface, beyond my conscious awareness.
And so, I found myself lying back in a hypnotherapist’s chair, eyes closed, breathing deep, sinking into that space where the mind softens and memories long buried begin to rise.
And that’s when I saw it.
A moment I hadn’t thought about in years.
The day my mother died.
For most of my life, my mother and I had struggled. But when she passed, something happened—I suddenly had financial security. Her life insurance cleared the debts. The weight of survival was lifted, and for the first time, I had enough.
And in that moment, my subconscious mind had made a decision. A devastating, unspoken decision that had shaped my reality ever since.
If I have money, it means someone I love has to die.
I felt it like a punch to the chest. It made perfect sense.
This wasn’t about generosity. It wasn’t about kindness or selflessness. My subconscious had been protecting me in the only way it knew how. It had linked money with loss, with grief, with pain. So, of course, I had been pushing it away. Of course, I had been ensuring that I never had more than I needed—because to my mind, abundance was dangerous.
I cannot tell you how deep that realization cut. It shook me. But it also set me free.
Because once I saw it, I could change it.
That is the power of hypnotherapy. It does not just skim the surface—it takes you to the very core of the beliefs that shape your life. And once you bring them into the light, they lose their power over you.
That session changed everything for me. It rewired something deep within me, something I hadn’t even known was broken. And as I began to heal, I realized—if hypnotherapy could do this for me, what else could it do?
I had to know more.
So I studied. I trained. I became a certified hypnotherapist. And now, I am here, sharing this journey with you.
This book is not just about techniques or theories—it is about transformation. Whether you are already familiar with hypnotherapy or are just beginning to explore it, I invite you to walk this path with me.
Because sometimes, the answers we are searching for are already inside us—waiting to be remembered.

Hypnotherapy—Then and Now
◆◆◆
Alright, let’s start at the beginning.
Before we dive into the depths of hypnotherapy, let’s take a step back and ask the obvious questions: What exactly is hypnosis? What is hypnotherapy? And what’s the difference between the two?
Hypnotherapy, as an official therapeutic practice, has been around for centuries. Of course, if we’re being honest, it probably existed long before its official
recognition. But like with everything in history, records of who exactly was the first tend to vary. So let’s not get lost in that debate.
What matters is this: hypnotherapy, in some form, began to emerge between the 17th and 18th centuries. And that is a long time ago. Like, a really long time ago. Your great-great-grandmother’s grandmother wasn’t even alive then. That’s how old we’re talking.
But instead of getting tangled up in historical arguments, let’s take a look at the key milestones that shaped hypnotherapy as we know it today.
Key Milestones in the History of Hypnotherapy
18th Century – Franz Anton Mesmer (1734–1815)
• A German physician who introduced the concept of animal magnetism (also known as mesmerism). He believed that by using specific hand movements and suggestion, he could influence a person’s physical and mental state. His work laid the foundation for modern hypnosis.
19th Century – James Braid (1795–1860)
• A Scottish surgeon who, in 1843, first used the term hypnosis while observing mesmerism in practice.
• Unlike Mesmer, Braid believed hypnosis wasn’t about magnetism but rather a state of intense focus and suggestibility.
19th Century – Jean-Martin Charcot (1825–1893)
• A French neurologist who used hypnosis to study and treat hysteria, linking it to brain function.
• One of his students, Sigmund Freud, initially experimented with hypnosis before moving on to psychoanalysis.
20th Century – Milton H. Erickson (1901–1980)
• An American psychiatrist and psychologist who revolutionized hypnotherapy with Ericksonian hypnosis, a technique based on indirect suggestion, metaphors, and storytelling.
• His work became the backbone of modern clinical hypnotherapy.
1955 – Official Recognition of Hypnotherapy
• The British Medical Association (BMA) formally recognized hypnotherapy as a legitimate medical practice.
1958 – Recognition by the American Medical Association (AMA)
• The AMA also acknowledged hypnotherapy as an effective therapeutic tool.
21st Century – Neuroscience and Hypnotherapy
• Today, hypnotherapy is backed by numerous scientific studies proving its effectiveness in treating anxiety, chronic pain, insomnia, phobias, and trauma.
• Research has shown its impact on brain neuroplasticity, meaning it can actually rewire thinking and behavioral patterns.
The Problem No One Talks About
So yes—hypnotherapy was established centuries ago. Great. We’re all grateful for that.
But here’s the issue.
A lot of the hypnotherapy techniques developed in the 18th century? They’re still being used today.
And that’s a problem.
Now, don’t get me wrong. This isn’t about disrespecting those who practice traditional methods. I truly believe they have the best intentions, and many of these techniques do work. But just because something was groundbreaking in the 18th century doesn’t mean it should remain unchanged today.
Think about it this way: Reiki was formally introduced to the world in the 1920s, and at the time, people were obsessed with it. It was the alternative healing method. It was revolutionary. People swore by it.
Then, something changed.
As time passed, Reiki didn’t stop being effective—but the world around it changed. People changed. The way our minds process energy shifted. Suddenly, Reiki wasn’t giving the same dramatic results as before, and skeptics started saying, Well, maybe this doesn’t work anymore.
But the truth? It wasn’t Reiki that changed. It was us.
The same thing happened with hypnotherapy.
The world today is not the same as the 18th century. Back then, there was no Instagram. No TikTok. No endless digital distractions pulling our focus in a thousand directions. The way our brains process information today is completely different from the way people’s minds worked two centuries ago.
And yet, in many places, hypnotherapy is still being taught and practiced the exact same way it was back then.
That’s like expecting your great-great-grandmother’s medical treatments to still be the best solution for modern diseases. Sure, some remedies hold up, but would you really want to rely solely on 18th-century medicine in a 21st-century world?
The Shift We Need
Here’s the thing: when society evolves, collective consciousness evolves with it. That’s why we feel such a disconnect between generations—why your grandmother might struggle to understand your world, and why her grandmother probably would have thought ours was pure insanity.
So if we have changed this much, why wouldn’t our healing techniques change with us?
This is where my journey with hypnotherapy truly begins—not just in learning what has already been done, but in redefining what’s possible.
Because if we are going to use hypnotherapy in the modern world, it needs to be adapted for the modern mind.
The world we live in today is not the same world it was even five years ago. And yet, many of the techniques used in hypnotherapy—just like in many other healing practices—haven’t changed in centuries.
This is a problem.
Because when you’re working with techniques that are, at their core, energy-based, you have to understand one fundamental truth: the human psyche is constantly evolving.
Not just over lifetimes, not just over generations—but sometimes, in the span of a single year.
Every major global event—wars, pandemics, financial collapses—leaves a mark on the collective consciousness. It alters the way people think, feel, and process information. And yet, so many healing methodologies remain unchanged, as if human minds today function exactly the same way they did in the 18th century.
That is simply not true.
Let’s take 2020 as an example.
During the pandemic, the entire world was forced into isolation. People were cut off from normal social interactions, confined within their homes, living in a constant state of uncertainty and stress. That did something to us—individually and collectively.
Brain chemistry shifted.
Nervous systems became heightened, operating in prolonged states of fight-or-flight.
Mental health disorders skyrocketed. Anxiety, depression, and chronic stress became the new baseline for millions of people. And these effects didn’t just go away when lockdowns lifted.
We are still carrying them.
The Lasting Impact of Global Stressors on the Human Mind
It is a fact that large-scale global stressors leave lasting imprints on the human mind. However, the extent and duration of these effects are still being studied.
Take the COVID-19 pandemic, for example. Studies have shown that prolonged exposure to collective stress alters the brain’s neural pathways, influencing how people process information, respond to stimuli, and regulate emotions. While the exact timeframe for these changes remains under investigation, research suggests that significant stressors can lead to long-term neurological shifts.
A study published in Nature Communications found that adolescents who lived through the pandemic exhibited signs of accelerated brain aging compared to pre-pandemic cohorts. This suggests that massive global events can induce structural changes in the brain much faster than previously assumed.
Additionally, research on chronic stress has demonstrated its impact on neural circuits related to cognition, decision-making, anxiety, and mood regulation. These changes can result in heightened emotional reactivity, cognitive fog, and even shifts in personality traits.
While the precise duration of these neurological shifts is still being determined, one thing is clear: our minds today do not function the way they did in 2019. And yet, many therapeutic methods—including traditional hypnotherapy—continue to operate as if nothing has changed.
This is why modern hypnotherapy must evolve. It must account for the fact that we are dealing with an entirely different mental landscape than we were even a few years ago. If the collective brain has changed, the methods we use to access and heal it must change too.
And that is exactly what this book is here to teach you.
The Problem with Stagnant Teachings
This is where so many traditional methodologies fail.
There are spiritual teachers who have been teaching the exact same thing for 20, 30, even 40 years. Same script. Same techniques. Same principles—never evolving, never adapting, never acknowledging that the human mind they are working with is not the same as it was decades ago.
But let’s put this in even simpler terms.
Can you look at yourself in the mirror today and say you are exactly the same person you were eight years ago?
Of course not.
Your face has changed. Your energy has shifted. Your thoughts, your beliefs, your understanding of the world—everything has evolved. You might not even dress the same way you
