I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all those who have supported me throughout the creation of this story.

To my family, for their endless love and encouragement; to my friends, for their unwavering belief in this dream; and to my mentors, for guiding me along the path of storytelling, teaching me not only how to write but how to craft a world that feels alive.

A special thanks to my readers, whose curiosity and enthusiasm inspire me to continue building this universe. Without your support, this journey would not be possible. I am truly grateful for each of you who has walked alongside Kael, Tessa, Rael, and Serin, and I hope you continue to share in the world of the Skyforge.

A Quiet Village, A Restless Soul

The village of Emberlyn lay nestled in a valley, surrounded by rolling hills and dense forests. Smoke curled lazily from chimneys, blending with the morning mist that clung to the rooftops like a protective shroud. Life in Emberlyn was simple, predictable, and for most, content. But for Kael, it was suffocating.

Kael was an apprentice to his uncle Baren, the village blacksmith. From dawn till dusk, he worked in the forge, shaping horseshoes, farming tools, and the occasional sword for traveling merchants or local guards. He had a natural talent for the craft—his hands seemed to know the rhythm of the hammer and the anvil as if guided by some unseen force. Yet, it wasn’t enough.

The forge’s heat never bothered Kael; in fact, he felt at home near the roaring flames. The fire seemed to respond to him in ways it shouldn’t. When his concentration peaked, the flames flared brighter, hotter, as though mirroring his emotions. Water hissed and danced unpredictably when he quenched metal, and the wind always seemed to pick up when he stepped outside the forge. These occurrences unsettled him, but he dared not speak of them. What would the villagers say if they knew?

That morning, as the sun peeked over the hills, Kael stood outside the forge, wiping soot from his hands onto his apron. He gazed at the distant mountains, their snow-capped peaks glowing gold in the sunrise. He had always felt an urge to go beyond them, to see what lay on the other side.

    Daydreaming again, boy?

Baren’s gruff voice snapped Kael back to reality. The older man, thickly built with arms like tree trunks, emerged from the forge carrying a half-finished plow.

Kael sighed. Just wondering what’s out there.

Baren chuckled, setting the plow on a workbench. Out there? Trouble, that’s what. You’d do well to keep your head down and focus on your work. The world has little use for dreamers.

Kael nodded absently, but his thoughts were far away.

As the day wore on, Kael worked the forge with his usual precision. Yet, as he hammered a piece of steel, something strange happened. A gust of wind swept through the forge, making the flames leap higher than he had ever seen. Startled, he stepped back, his heart pounding. The piece of steel he had been working on glowed faintly, not red-hot but with an eerie bluish hue.

Baren stormed in. What in the blazes—Kael, what did you do?

    I… I don’t know, Kael stammered. The wind—it just—

    Baren squinted at
