    Chapter One

It was an unseasonably cool July night in 1969 along the shores of Lake Erie, Alexis Frost was a detective with the Port Clinton, Ohio police department. and had been dragged from a sound sleep in the tender early hours of the morning as the phone on her nightstand rang out loud. She yawned and dragged herself out of bed towards the phone, which was relentless in its chirping.

Who is it? she asked abruptly into the phone. Wake up Lexi. We've got a cold one in Sunny's Motel. We need you here half an hour ago, said her partner over the phone. Lexi Frost sighed but agreed she'd be right over.

When she pulled up to the motel, she found her partner smoking outside. What's the situation, Maggie? Lexi asked as she gently dragged her partner back into the crime scene.

Well, it's a woman dead in room 109. Name of Brenda Holt, fifty or so. She's clean, so I'm racking my head for a probable cause here. If you ask me, it's a.... sexual accident of sorts. The manager said she saw an exotic-looking girl walk in with her. It looks like they were having a good time when her heart gave out, so the broad ran off. If you agree, maybe we can all go back home and who knows, maybe get a few more hours of quality sleep in, Maggie said, taking a deep puff of her cigarette.

Ha! What a way to go. Let's look, Lexi chuckled as they walked into the room. The victim was indeed an older woman, lying naked on the bed with a sheet covering her below the neck. She still had petrified nipples that were outlined in the autopsy sheet.

Lexi scrunched up her nose as the familiar smell of a dead body attacked her senses. The older woman's arms were tied to the headboard using strong pieces of cloth. She had a frail body, and Lexi wondered if the bondage was even necessary. Her eyes were still open, her face stuck in an expression of mild terror.

Jeez. The old woman sure knew how to party, huh, Lexi remarked as she walked over to the body. There were no signs of physical assault or bodily injury - it did just look like an unfortunate accident. However, something about the feel of the scene was off. She felt her heart - and something else too - pounding and wondered why that was the case.

These sheets are quite messy. Signs of struggle?, she asked her partner.

More like signs of having a good time! There's bodily fluids everywhere Lexi, Maggie chuckled. Lexi nodded and paced around the body, trying to find what her instincts were telling her.

Suddenly she had a hunch. She leaned over the woman's body, taking a deep whiff of her face. It was the unmistakable scent of a woman. Yeah that's the natural lube over there alright, Maggie muttered. Excess Bartholin fluids I’d say.

Lexi walked around the room to where the woman's belongings were hanging. She fished around her purse to find her wallet and a matchbook from a club named 'Discreet Capers'.

Hmm, this is probably where she picked up the girl. It's worth checking out... Lexi remarked. Maggie clucked in irritation as she realized Lexi wasn't about to let it go.

Oh and look here, she's got over $100 in cash, Lexi exclaimed. "Now why would someone walk around
