ucked away in the lush countryside of rural Bengal is the beautiful town of Bishnupur, famous for its rich history and heritage. The landscape of Bishnupur is dotted with picturesque lakes, green fields, and magnificent terracotta temples and palaces. As one roams through the town, the view is still strikingly pristine and dated, but for modern buildings and vehicles.
In this cozy village atmosphere, we find Tia Kumbhakar, a happy-go-lucky 10-year-old girl. Her first name which means parrot
in Bengali is a perfect fit for her bright personality and beautiful features. Her feet are always yearning to run to the field and trees to gaze at the kites and the birds camouflaged in the green trees. Growing up in this setting, Tia can mimic bird calls, and one can often hear the birds calling back to her.
When she is not chasing birds and kites, we can find Tia learning the art of terracotta pottery from her grandmother, Gayatri Devi.
