A Journey through Time - Venkata Subramaniam
Chapter 1: Veil of Celestial Whispers
Taknev Reyi, in abject despondency had straggled beyond the darkening hillocks for the umpteenth time and stared vacuously o’er the dying welkin streaked and interspersed with parapets of ancient pine. Ensconced in the distance between umbrageous barges of clouds, the greening sward glimmered indistinctly in the dying light. The narrow tract of this verdurous wold was to become imprinted in the deep niches of memory. The glorious conflagration of the day soon sunk with the pall of sable night and the sentinel stars anon spangled the dusky upper realms. Husbandman and school boy alike hastened to their nesting place and Silence lulled the distant knolls.
Taknev trudged along and wound his way home through the dewy marshes.
Each step he took seemed laden with a grief too harrowing to be constrained within the boundaries of the mortal frame. The path, trodden countless times before, reverberated with familiar rustlings of flurry and despair. The darkened hillocks, the gaunt by-standers loomed like spectres guarding the entrance to a realm whence perchance glimmered a ray of hope—yet faintly gleamed for a moment and was gone in the gloaming like an evanescent mystery - some distant dream commingled in the fabric of reality. .
The firmament, once ablaze with the hues of day, now wore the melancholy of nightlike shroud. Ancient pines stood stoically, bearing witness to Taknev's ceaseless ramblings, their bony gnarled branches spread out like skeletal fingers that sought solace in the waning light. Clouds, draped in the twilight's embrace, cast ethereal shadows upon the dappled tufts, where memories and regrets coalesced in the fading luminescence.
O'er the hushed verdant turf, Taknev's footsteps rustled a dirge—a mournful melody that resonated with the poignant dolour of his existence. The narrow tract, bathed in the crimson twilight, bore indelible marks of his relentless pilgrimage, a journey fueled by the desperation to traverse the boundaries of time itself.
As the day's diurnal din yielded to the approach of the night and a celestial beauteous spectacle unfolded, adorned by the emergence of silvern stars in the dusky expanse, the very fabric of the universe seemed to pulse with a heartbeat, and Taknev, a mere mortal caught in its throes, found himself yearning for answers beyond the scope of mundane comprehension.
