About this ebook
Keep your ears wide open.
Bodies of water are dripping from icy ceilings. Their rhythms begin to dissolve the borders of inaudible worlds into dewdrops. Shimmering in mid-air, they cling onto the frozen blades of breathing stalagmites, resisting descent. Infecting these subterranean lungs of crying glaciers that stretch out to the farthest biocaves of unheard galaxies are parasites called the Mapuble. An A.V.I. Nouven Hunter called Meya is taking cover from them, as she reflects on her father's Alzheimer's disease. Intuiting a link with Mapuble clicking sounds and his dementia, she unravels these murmurs by retracing the events that took his memory codes away.
What does it take for her to capture these unsounded memories as diagrams between universes, where worlds beyond songs of life and death cease to exist? Dock alongside Meya and lay out the plans to destroy the distortions of dementia worlds caused by the biogeological complex of Atlantic Mercator Prime in her Noumena.

Introduction
Book One of the Fractones Collection, Noumena is a book to encourage good questioning on Alzheimer's disease, intended for all ages at home. Following Meya's investigations into the mysteries of Tau across complex interfaces of her father's decaying brain laced with her dream coats, Noumena puts the neurobiological topic of ‘memory' into question by laying out its formations across life and death, from early years to old age. Noumena is her spacing to explore such silences of memory. It intersects across art, metaphysics, continental philosophy, and neurobiology with children's literature, which interweave through intricate motifs informed by the Indigenous Javanese arts of batik, gamelan, and shadow puppetry. Reimagined at the trails of memory disintegrations, she retraces the written sounds of her father's dementia for transformative moments at the edge of his memory loss. Her adventures unfold along the concept of dementia, as she unveils the complexities behind it, which unravels something even darker at stake.
Instead of telling children what they should know about the world we do not understand, the time has come for them to teach us about it. We cannot ignore that children ask, or are more responsive to, What's this?
or What's that?
more than How is it formed?
This fundamental frame of questioning puts them in a natural position to look at the nature of everything, and nothing, in being, and becoming.
Through the medium of illustration, this journal aims to provide a background space for that growth the moment a child begins with a question. Splitting between penmanship, and investigative study, to engage colouring, thought, and sketching, in any child, Noumena becomes their illustrative journal. This book does not underestimate the natural process of imagination, question, and intelligence in any child using it, and hopes it will provide that creative space for them.
A factory is assembling rapidly. There was a time before the concept of ‘child' came about, where fable saw no age group on a developmental plot. Perhaps, the time has come to reclaim it.
This is your battle cry.
Prologue
Traditionally, phenomena are knowable things through the five senses: sight, sound, taste, smell, and touch, which construct bodies of knowledge about a world. What is unknowable outside this is ‘Noumena'—a place of unknowns where a child's imagination reaches beyond the five senses, dancing in an infinity of creative potentials. Where does memory occur in this developmental stage? Does a child forget the same way a grandparent is lost to Alzheimer's Disease? Art, folklore, and philosophy are productive forces of creativity that unfold Memory towards Noumena, opening a realm for discoveries to these questions. These engage with the theme of memory loss in Alzheimer's disease, diagramming an investigative process through illustrated narratives that operates in experimental spaces closest to Noumena. It reframes imagination for children using art as they look up above the mountains by themselves—stretching the clouds of phenomena
