About this ebook

As a woman, you wear many hats in life. However, before you’re a wife, a mother, a sister, an aunt, a friend, or even a grandmother, you’re a daughter first. And because of your relationship with God, through Jesus Christ, you’re a daughter of the King! God Almighty, the Creator of Heaven and Earth, desires to father you.

Author Larissa Dayana Jean shares that when you anchor your life on your identity in Christ, your life will never be the same. In her sophomore project, Lessons Learned as a Daughter of the King, she offers the greatest lessons about how her identity as a daughter of the King has transformed her life, and has deepened her personal relationship with God.

Larissa encourages all women, whether single or married, to grab hold of this truth, walk in their royal identity, and allow the God of Heaven and Earth to truly father them in every season of life.

    Preface

But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

    —1 Peter 2:9 NKJV

My sister, you are God’s girl. You are the apple of His eye. You are made in the image of the Almighty God. You are a unique expression of His love for the world. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. You are purposed. You are unique. You are needed. You are an integral piece in God’s big picture. You have an answer to a problem that God has equipped you to solve. Whether you had a great relationship with your earthly father or not, I want you to know that the God of the universe, Elohim, the Maker of Heaven and Earth desires to father you.

The magnitude of this truth has revolutionized my life. It has changed how I view myself, and it has given me the confidence to step forth into all that God has destined for me to do in His unshakeable kingdom. When I realized that my identity is rooted in divine royalty, I stopped comparing myself, my story, and my life to another sister. When I learned to fully embrace God’s relentless love for me as His daughter, it freed me. God’s love for me melted away all the years of hurt, rejection, disappointment, and fear. My Heavenly Father is also my King. My sister, I invite you to sit at the King’s table with me, as I share the lessons my heavenly Father has taught me, His girl.

    With love,

    Larissa

    Acknowledgments

I first want to acknowledge my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Being your daughter is the highest honor, joy, privilege, and blessing on this side of eternity and forever. From the time I gave my heart to you at the age of fourteen, you have ordered my every step. You are my Good Shepherd, and I am thankful that your good plans for my life have included encouraging your many daughters through the words you give me to write on paper, for your glory.

I want to thank my parents, Mr. Ludsen and Mrs. Daniella G. Jean for your love, countless sacrifices, prayer, support, and encouragement all my life. Mommie, thank you for leading me to my own personal relationship with Jesus Christ and molding me to be the woman of God I am today. Even in the times when God’s plan seemed hard to understand, thank you both for allowing me to be everything the Lord created me to be and do on the earth. I love you both with every part of my heart.

To my dear pastor, Dr. Yulonda Z. Lewis—my Mommie Lewis—I love you more than words can express! You will never know how much your life has impacted mine in ministry. Thank you for modeling what it looks like to boldly preach and teach God’s Word as a daughter of the King! Thank you for shepherding me and lovingly discipling me into who God had in mind for me to be. You always saw more in me than I could see in myself. You are a walking miracle, and I honor you forever.

I want to thank my siblings: Richardson, Roselande, and Clifford Jean. You all have remained a constant source of support, love, and encouragement. Thank you all for being in my corner, cheering me on in the victories, wiping my tears in the hard seasons, and witnessing every chapter of God’s plan for my life unfold. I do not have enough words to say thank you for loving me!

When God sends you forever friends who become family, it is a priceless gift. Christopher and Janet Render, Tiffany King, Nekeisha Lynn Randall, and Chanell Dugan: I love you all from the bottom of my heart! Our friendship is a gift that I treasure with each year. God has made us forever family, and I am so grateful to call you my brother and sisters in Christ! I thank you from the bottom of my heart for being consistent, real, loving, and loyal. You guys are absolutely the best!

To my twin sister pastor, Henriette Robinson, I love you! You are my spiritual twin that I always prayed for! Your model of living a Spirit-filled and Spirit-led life has impacted my life in more ways that I can count! I bless God for our season of laboring together under the same spiritual house, and I bless God that we are forever sisters. Thank you for loving me, encouraging me, praying me through some of the toughest seasons in ministry and in my walk with Christ, and truly being my sister. We are forever family!

I bless God for my late spiritual father, Bishop J. G. Kramer of the UFCCM Inc. I love you with all my heart! You were truly the spiritual father that I have prayed for, and when God connected our lives in 2017, you were a source of wisdom, love, friendship, encouragement, leadership, and guidance in my life. Thank you for loving me like a daughter and being such a blessed covering over my life. Great is your reward in Heaven! I miss you with all my heart, Bishop.

To Betty Booker, Kara Waters, June D. Gray, Apostle Michele Rucker, Pastor Dave Rucker, the Dancing on the Promise Family, and a list of other precious names too numerous to count—my life has been richer, blessed, and better because God connected our hearts and lives at critical seasons of my life. I love you, and I thank you for being willing vessels God has used to teach me many of the lessons within the pages of this book. My love for each of you runs very deep. I thank God for you daily!

And last, but certainly not least, I want to bless God for my Naomi, my spiritual mother, Pastor Kim Griggs. To my beautiful Mommie Kim, you are truly a gift from God to me. Your prayers, your intercession, your encouragement, your strength, and the lessons you have taught me personally about being a daughter of the King have been forever engraved in my
