Rise of Demons and Earth's Final Countdown - Karen Yanhs Anderson

Rise of the Demons, and Earth’s Final Countdown

Millennia ago, we were bright, beautiful, and powerful. We inhabited the heavens and shone brightly while serving our Creator, known as the Ancient of Days.¹ We sang,² we worshipped, we served, and we traveled as his messengers.

Then one day, a rebellion started. Some of us were stupid enough to join the rebellion of the Shiny One.³ We were deceived, and we warred against our Creator, the Ancient of Days. We were abjectly defeated, and most of us were locked into a dark place, named the Abyss.⁴ Some of us were lucky enough to escape the roundup into the Abyss.  We remained on earth. Some of us mated with the earthlings (humans) and became what they called the Nephilim.

Some of the Nephilim imparted knowledge and assisted the humans, and they were known as men of renown. Most of the Nephilim became monsters⁶ and predated the earthlings.

Some of our brothers polluted the earthlings to such a degree that our Creator got so mad at us that he sent a flood⁷ to destroy us all.

This story is about how the earthlings desiring knowledge and power, full of hubris released us from our prison, the Abyss.

Once released, we once again fused with humans to compete with the forces of the Creator for domination of this universe, while enslaving humanity as our weapons. May the best side win.

    CERN (Voynich)

In the depths of the mountains between France and Switzerland there lies a tunnel and a building that hosted the most technologically advanced machine. The scientists who worked there were the brightest, most sophisticated, and intelligent. They came from all over the world.

This group of scientists had given the world a great gift, the internet. So, with this great gift, the funding for research was limitless, and help of any kind was only one phone call away.

This hidden technological wonder under the mountain is called the Higgs Boson. That’s the machine the media and tourists were shown. The world had been told the scientists were looking for the God particle, the spark that created the big bang. By shooting a particle at a high rate of speed into a proton, they hoped to achieve the power that facilitates creation.

Yet, among those operating the Hadron Collider that created the Higgs Boson, there was a small group of scientists who were tasked with a different duty. This group of scientists had been given a job to initiate contact with higher-intelligence species. They were paid by a religious group. They were handpicked based on their personalities and their past history. Their initiation started when a piece of paper was inserted into their dorm rooms.

    Lillian Tam (Physicist)

She was sitting and playing piano and swaying to the music. Lillian was happy that she was working in such a beautiful setting and such an elite research facility.

She was told by her team lead to be creative and come up with solutions. Anytime she had a good idea, she was told to share. Everyone was valued, and all ideas were highly treasured. On the side, she was also told that if her idea was approved, she would be granted any amount of research funding to realize her dreams. Lillian was happy she worked for CERN.

Standing up and stretching, she looked toward her apartment’s front door and saw a slip of paper under her door. Lillian mulled, Who would send a note to her, especially at ten thirty p.m.?

She walked over and picked up the note. Opening it, she saw calligraphy handwriting on a very distinctive, quality stationery. It featured fleur-de-lys and a sword. It said, Greetings, Lillian. Please meet us at 2000 tomorrow at the Cafe de l’Aviation, demain.

There was no name attached. It was an odd message. Since tomorrow would be Friday, 2000 hours would not be a problem. Lillian decided she would show up just to see what’s going on.

She walked out of her room and walked down the hallway. Everything was quiet and no one was around. She looked into her colleagues’ doors to see if anyone else had gotten the note. Nothing.

As she looked out the hallway windows, in the distance, she could see the golden dome of CERN. It was so beautiful. It was time for her to take a bath and go to bed. Tomorrow it will be a new day.

Three other scientists got the same message as Lillian that evening. They worked in different teams and different departments. Not one of them mentioned the message to other people. All four were specifically chosen for their intelligence, lack of family and support, curiosity, and that they were loners.

Friday night arrived. Lillian drove to the restaurant early. As she pulled into the location of the meeting, the restaurant looked dark and seemed deserted. She thought the note was a prank, and she was ready to turn around and drive back to her dorm room, when out of the restaurant walked a very tall man dressed in a priest’s robe. He walked briskly and headed straight to her car.

Instead of looking like a priest, this man, even in a priest’s garment, looked like a pro-wrestler with a bald head. She distinctively recalled a movie called Salem’s Lot by Stephen King. The vampire in that movie looked just like him.

As he walked closer, he motioned for her to roll down the car window, to which she obeyed.

    Miss Tam, correct?

    Lillian replied, Yes.

Come join us, please. Some of your colleagues have already arrived.

Lillian looked around the parking lot and noticed several parked vehicles. She thought maybe they were the vehicles of the restaurant staff, but now, she noticed a brand-new Mercedes there with tinted windows. She decided it must be true that there’s more than just restaurant staff there. Even a successful restaurant owner wouldn’t be driving such a vehicle. Lillian mused. She grew up helping her dad and her uncle running a very successful restaurant.

She opened her car door, grabbed her purse, and followed the large man into the restaurant. One of the servers led them into a private room reserved for large parties and Lillian noticed several familiar faces from CERN. Although she didn’t know them personally, she had seen them in the cafeteria and in the CERN buildings before. One had a very dark complexion, the other two looked European.

Two other men dressed in dark suits were there also, and they both looked like guards. Both sported crew cuts and they were well-built and slim. Their flint like eyes were scanning their surroundings constantly. Their lips were tightly shut. The only acknowledgment Lillian got from them was the flicker of lights in their eyes.

Let me introduce myself, Miss Tam. My name is Joseph Santori. These are my friends and companions, Brother Yurich and Brother Fritz. Do you know these gentlemen, your coworkers?

No. I have seen them before, but no.

I am Rashi Patel, the dark, curly-haired guy piped up.

    Lillian nodded and smiled.

    James Robinson.

    Aleistar Nison.

    I am Lillian Tam.

Now that we are all introduced, let me go ahead and tell you why we asked you to come to this gathering.

All eyes turned toward Brother Santori. A hush descended over them. At that moment, the door opened and a server stepped in. The two guards, Brother Fritz and Brother Yurich, went to the door and intercepted the server and took the tray of drinks.

Lillian got tea, and it was her favorite mint tea. James Robinson got Coca-Cola.

Rashi Patel got Heineken. Aleistar Nison got whiskey. By their looks, everyone must have been happy.

Brother Santori started again. This gathering has been called because our Holy Father needs your help.

James Robinson spoke up. We are scientists, not priests.

Everyone broke out laughing, except Brother Fritz and Brother Yurich. They chuckled.

Yes, our Holy Father understands that, he continued. He believes that science will one day prove God. Which is why CERN was created, wasn’t it?

    Silence!

Yes. CERN’s goal has been to recreate the spark that generated the big bang, or the so-called God’s spark. Right?

    Silence.

Lillian thought back to all the failed experiments time and again. She did not say anything. She knew her colleagues were probably thinking about the same thing. They had so many failed experiments some of the scientists were ready to toss in the towel.

The reason we tracked you four down is because in recent years, an ancient book came into the possession of our Holy Father. We have been laboring for years to decipher it without success. We assembled the best cryptologists, linguists, anthropologists, and even the NSA, but none was able to decipher it for us. It reminded us of the book of Daniel, chapter two.

We are not Daniel, Patel said.

I understand that, but our Holy Father said you four have the right gifts to help us. By our Holy Father’s infinite wisdom and his revelation, he said the three of you know ancient languages, and all four of you know modern, international languages.

We just want to know if you are willing to help us.

Gulp from James and Rashi. This was so huge Lillian could not believe her ears. She was just wondering who she could celebrate with . . .

Brother Santori was handing out something just as the door opened and servers appeared. The guard brothers went to the door and took the tray.

Appetizers of cheese and crackers, dips, hot rolls, and vegetables were served.

    Let’s eat.

As he said that, the light flickered and thunder flashed outside the windows. A major storm with winds and rains started. The blue lightning looked eerie as the winds whipped the trees outside. Brother Santori handed out a bound manuscript of pictures and words that looked very ancient and very beautiful.

"This is Voynich, the book I have been telling you about. It came into our Holy Father’s possession. The book no one could decipher."

Brother Santori took a drink. He popped a piece of cheese and a cherry tomato into his mouth.

Lillian noticed Brother Santori’s bright white teeth and large fingers. Why would a priest have such a hand like a common laborer?

You can see from the pictures that someone came from outer space and mated with humans. Later, the space traveler took them all back home. That’s the best interpretation of the book based on the pictures.

Everyone was turning the pages as the storm raged outside. Everyone was curious and quiet.

We believe that the international language is music, said Brother Santori.

All four scientists looked up at him.

Yes, everybody understands music as the language of the sphere. All four of you could read and play musical notes. Three of you, Lillian, Aleistar, Rashi, can also read and write ancient languages. Rashi knows Sanskrit, Lillian knows Chinese, Aleistar Nison knows Hebrew, and you all know music.

What do you need us to do? Lillian asked. Aleistar and James gave Lillian a thumbs-up.

Yes, let’s talk about that! Brother Santori said.

The lights once again flickered. Everyone in the restaurant was wondering if there would be a power outage. This was definitely an unexpected storm. Lillian didn’t remember seeing a storm coming on the forecast, but then, Geneva sits on the foothills of mountains and storms could roll in at any time.

Brother Santori handed out a contract to the four scientists. When they saw it, everyone in the group just gulped, and their jaws dropped. The payment per quarter was twice the scientist’s salary for a year.

James spoke up immediately. Sir, I only work on the cooling tower. I am not a linguist like these other three. Maybe you’ve got the wrong person.

A small smile floated on Brother Santori’s lips, and Brother Fritz immediately stood up. They were all startled. A wave from Brother Santori, and Brother Fritz sat back down.

No, James, our Holy Father has not, and could not, and will not make a mistake. In fact, he is the Vicar of God, his Holy See. You are not allowed, number one, to criticize the Vicar of God. You understand?

    Everyone nodded.

Lillian thought to herself, What hubris. She wasn’t impressed. James thought the same. They said nothing.

Secondly, you are to keep this quiet. You understand why, right?

    Everyone nodded.

A knock at the door and Brother Yurich opened it. In came a tall skinny bald man in immaculate suit and thick, bifocal glasses.

Meet your team, Doctor Flugtorem. Said Brother Santori.

Everyone looked up at him. Doctor Flugtorem, the CFO of CERN, didn’t look like someone who should have the chatter and swirling rumors. In CERN, everyone has heard the rumors that the CFO created a love den beneath the particle splitter. Recently, there were even rumors about him sacrificing and eating children. Nothing had been confirmed and no investigation. It’s probably just pure rumors. Now these four scientists just looked at him curiously.

In a different language, Lillian assumed Italian, Doctor Flugtorem spoke to Brother Santori. Then he turned to the four scientists and said, Welcome!

He nodded to the brothers, smiled, and left.

The winds outside howled shrilly, and Lillian could almost imagine hearing a female voice keening at a high pitch. She thought back to those Chinese operas she used to watch with her dad. The female soprano could shatter glass with her voice. This was a major violent storm.

"Back to your question, Miss Tam. I need your musical talent. Your assignment is to study the Voynich and see if it’s an ancient language you or some of your colleagues could decipher. One of you can write a small program and translate it into alphabets. After that, it needs to be put into music and sung. I will need to tune your musical instrument to a certain frequency."

When do you need this done? Nison spoke up. He has been the most quiet of the group.

The sooner the better. Six months to two years.

The wind howled. Rain slashed the windows. And everyone looked anxious.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, we will leave you to discuss this among yourself while we try to get to the airport. He nodded toward his brothers and stood up. We will connect again shortly.

As they headed out the room, the servers came in with their meals. Everyone elected to take them to-go because of the storm.

They parted ways and returned to their dorms.

That night, Lillian dreamt about a doorway of darkness opening up in the flashes of lightning. Silhouette against the lightning were beings so dark they were several
